Job description
Eckoh is hiring a BI Reporting Analyst to own the Tableau content that powers client-facing dashboards and internal reporting across our customer engagement security platform. You will design and build high-quality, performant dashboards, work closely with the data model owners to keep everything fast and accurate, and lead the migration of our legacy BusinessObjects reporting estate into Tableau., Eckoh provides near real-time and historical reports to our clients and internal stakeholders through Tableau dashboards embedded in our Secure Engagement Portal. As a growing business, we’re looking for an experienced reporting analyst / BI developer to join our existing team to support us as we expand our product range and client base. Along with existing team members, you will own the Tableau content that sits on top of this platform. You will design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports that clients and colleagues rely on daily, working within the Product Data team alongside data engineering, and data quality colleagues. You will work with Data Engineers that own the underlying data model to ensure that together you provide rich, interactive dashboards and reports that add value to customers and surface real business insights. You will work with your colleagues to ensure reports and dashboards not only meet the needs of customers and stakeholders but also that the performance of the dashboards meets expectations and the data is accurately presented.
This is a hands-on role for someone with genuine depth in Tableau, who takes pride in reporting that is trusted, fast, and accurate and is interested in helping us leverage data to answer real-world questions.
Key Functional Responsibilities:
Dashboard & Development:
· Design, build, and maintain Tableau dashboards and reports serving client-facing analytics through the Secure Engagement Portal and reporting for internal teams.
· Translate reporting requirements from Product, Commercial, customer feedback and operational stakeholders into clear, well-designed, engaging visualisations that answer real questions.
· Apply consistent design standards across the Tableau estate, covering layout, interactivity, and visual best practice, so that client-facing content reflects the quality of the wider platform.
· Design for performance from the outset, building dashboards that load quickly and behave predictably under client-facing consumption rather than fixing performance after the fact.
· Own the production of high-quality output that meets requirements, is fully reconciled and answers the question the report or dashboard is intended to answer.
Semantic Layer & Performance:
· Work with the semantic layer and data models that underpin your dashboards, understanding the published data sources, and data contracts behind them.
· Shape and maintain published data sources, making informed extract-versus-live decisions and managing refresh schedules aligned to consumer expectations.
· Diagnose workbook and query performance issues and articulate clearly to the data model owners what needs to change and why, rather than building around problems in the model.
· Partner with data engineering and product development colleagues to ensure modelling and Tableau patterns remain consistent, performant, and maintainable
Legacy Report Migration:
· Work as part of the team to help migrate legacy SAP BusinessObjects reporting use-cases into Tableau, working through inventory, rationalisation to focus on standard dashboards over bespoke reports.
· Understand existing Web Intelligence reports and universes sufficiently to determine what should be rebuilt, consolidated, or retired.
· Engage report owners and consumers across the business to validate genuine requirements, rather than migrating legacy content wholesale.
· Reconcile migrated reporting against legacy outputs so that users trust the transition.
Content Admin and Governance:
· Act as a Tableau subject matter expert within the team, advising colleagues and stakeholders on how we can get the best out of Tableau.
· Engage with customers as required alongside members of the Commercial team, being a positive representative of Eckoh
· Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and prioritisation and set achievable expectations with stakeholders.
· Support internal consumers in appropriate self-service, helping teams answer their own questions rather than queueing everything through development.
Partner & Stakeholder Management:
· Act as a Tableau subject matter expert within the team, advising colleagues and stakeholders on how we can get the best out of Tableau.
· Engage with customers as required alongside members of the Commercial team, being a positive representative of Eckoh
· Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and prioritisation and set achievable expectations with stakeholders.
· Support internal consumers in appropriate self-service, helping teams answer their own questions rather than queueing everything through development.
· Communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders about trade-offs, timelines, and the practicalities of delivering reporting well.
Requirements
Demonstrable hands-on Tableau development experience across Desktop and Cloud, building and maintaining dashboards in production for real consumers, ideally client-facing.
Strong command of Tableau at depth, including expressions, table calculations, parameters and actions, and dashboard design for performance.
Practical experience of workbook performance optimisation and designing published data sources with informed extract-versus-live decisions.
Strong SQL, sufficient to interrogate underlying data, for experimentation and reconciliation, hold an informed conversation with data engineers about queries and models.
A working understanding of dimensional modelling and semantic layers, you do not need to own the model, but you must be able to consume it intelligently and challenge it constructively.
Experience gathering reporting requirements from business stakeholders and translating them into deliverable, well-scoped content.
Experience administering Tableau content, covering projects, permissions, data source certification, and content lifecycle management.
Strong attention to accuracy, with the discipline to reconcile and validate reporting before it reaches consumers.
Comfortable operating in a regulated environment with PCI DSS, GDPR, SOC2, or similar compliance obligations.
Clear communicator, able to explain performance and data issues to technical colleagues and delivery trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and customers.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience with SAP BusinessObjects (Web Intelligence, Universes / IDT), or of migrating reporting from a legacy BI platform to a modern one.
Familiarity with Databricks or lakehouse platforms as a data source for Tableau, including Delta Lake and medallion-style serving layers.
Awareness of the design considerations for Tableau content consumed through embedded analytics, such as sizing, interactivity, and load behaviour, even though embedding itself is owned elsewhere.
Tableau certifications, such as Tableau Certified Data Analyst or Tableau Certified Consultant.
Experience working alongside a data engineering team during a platform build.
Exposure to payments, contact centre, conversational AI, or SaaS platform domains
