Technical Architect: Banking

Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade technology solutions for banking and financial services.

• Define and govern application architecture standards, frameworks, and best practices.
• Design scalable, secure, resilient, and high-performance banking applications.
• Create High-Level and Low-Level Design documents for technology solutions.
• Drive digital modernization and transformation initiatives across banking platforms.
• Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture, security, and regulatory standards.
• Provide technical leadership to development, QA, DevOps, and support teams.
• Review code, architecture designs, and technical implementation approaches.
• Mentor and promote engineering excellence within engineering teams.
• Conduct architecture reviews, technical governance, and risk assessments.
• Design API-based, event-driven, and microservices architectures.
• Define integration patterns between core banking systems and external applications.
• Lead cloud adoption/migration strategies (preferably Azure, also AWS/GCP).
• Develop reusable architecture components and frameworks.
• Ensure solutions meet security, regulatory compliance, performance, scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery requirements.
• Leverage deep understanding of banking business processes, regulatory frameworks (KYC, AML, PSD2, Open Banking, GDPR), and technologies.
• Utilize strong skills in Java/Spring Boot or .NET, microservices, API development, event-driven architecture, and design patterns.
• Apply expertise in cloud, DevOps, and integration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, REST APIs, Kafka, MQ, etc.).
• Work with various databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Implement best practices in application security and identity management (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML).

Possess 10+ years of IT experience, including 3+ years as a Technical Architect.

• Demonstrate experience in delivering large-scale banking transformation programs.
• Manage stakeholders effectively and engage with customers, especially within UK/European banking environments.
• Hold or work towards relevant certifications (Azure/AWS Architect, TOGAF, Kubernetes, Banking Domain).
