Telecommunications Consultant

This position will directly support the enterprise network transport operations. Participates in the installation, configuration, and performance analysis of transport network technologies with a primary focus on operation and maintenance for transport networks to include; Fiber Optic Cable, DWDM, Ciena, Nokia, Ribbon, Icons, Microwave (Aviat), and P25 radio systems. Candidate should have a strong understanding of transport network and demonstrate the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, coordinate, and resolve complex issues and projects., * Support AEP Fiber Optic, Microwave and P.25 800Mhz radio systems (Transport Systems).

• Shared 24x7x365 on-call with 6 other engineers
• Break/Fix support of AEP Transport network systems
• Remotely support project-based field change control work associated with deploying Fiber Optic, Microwave and P.25 radio systems
• Follow the AEP change management process and AEP standard for changing any configuration in the network including peer reviews on field transport impacting changes
• Documentation upkeep - ServiceNow Asset, Monitoring Systems, Process Docs, Timekeeping, Goal Performance, Status Reporting, Change Control,
• Project Task and time scheduling management/meetings

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study
• Or Associate’s degree in field mentioned above with 2 years of relevant work experience
• Or HS diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience required.

Experience:

• 2 years of relevant work experience in addition to any experience mentioned above.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Valid Driver’s License is Required.

In addition:

• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24x7 support. Occasional travel required. *
