Sybase Database Administrator

Stratacent is looking for a Sybase DBA who will be responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, performance tuning, security, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting of Sybase ASE database environments., * Install, configure, upgrade, and maintaian Sybase ASE database servers.

• Monitor database health, performance, and availability.
• Perform database capacity planning and storage management.

• Manage database objects, users, roles, and permissions.

• Analyze and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Monitor and tune database performance to meet SLA requirements.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks related to CPU, memory, disk I/O, and locking issues.

• Optimize indexes and database structures.

• Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies.
• Perform regular database backups and restoration testing.
• Ensure business continuity through disaster recovery planning and implementation.

• Support high-availability and replication solutions.

• Implement database security policies and access controls.
• Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

• Monitor database activities and address security incidents.

• Provide production support for database-related issues.
• Troubleshoot performance, connectivity, and system failures.
• Work closely with application teams, developers, and infrastructure teams.
• Participate in on-call support and incident management activities.

Database Administration, Sybase Product Family, Database Administration, Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise, Testing, Performance Tuning/Optimization, Sybase Product Family, Data Recovery, Database Technology, Capacity Management, * Strong experience with Sybase ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise) administration.

• Knowledge of Sybase Replication Server and High Availability solutions.
• Expertise in database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, stored procedures, and database architecture.
• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Understanding of database security best practices.
• Experience with monitoring and automation tools.
