Job description

We are looking for a driven, results-oriented West Coast Sales Representative to own and grow our presence across the West Coast - from the Pacific Northwest down through California and into the Mountain time zone states. This is a full-cycle sales role built for someone with a true hunter mentality - someone who is energized by opening new doors, building a territory from the ground up, and relentlessly pursuing growth. You will prospect new accounts, follow up on inbound leads, manage existing customer relationships, and represent Precisionary at conferences and on-site demos.

If you’re the kind of person who gets fired up by a blank map and sees untapped territory as an opportunity, not an obstacle - we want to hear from you. You don’t need to have sold scientific instruments before, but you do need to be ambitious, coachable, and hungry to build something. We’ll give you the product training; you bring the drive.

What You’ll Do

  • Aggressively prospect and develop new customer relationships across academic research institutions, biotech and pharma companies, and hospital and clinical pathology labs in your territory
  • Build and expand Precisionary’s footprint in the Bay Area and San Diego markets, targeting untapped accounts and driving meaningful year-over-year revenue growth
  • Follow up on inbound leads promptly and move them efficiently through the sales cycle from first contact to close
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of existing accounts, identifying upsell and expansion opportunities within current customers
  • Conduct in-person and virtual product demonstrations tailored to each customer’s specific research or clinical workflow
  • Represent Precisionary Instruments at regional and national scientific conferences and tradeshows
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all activity, leads, and opportunities in our CRM (Streak)
  • Collaborate with the VP of Sales, Chief Scientific Officer, and internal support team on quotes, technical questions, and customer follow-through
  • Provide regular territory updates and pipeline reporting to sales leadership, with a clear view of where growth is coming from and where the next opportunities lie

Requirements

  • A self-starter with a true hunter mentality - you don’t wait for leads to come to you, you go find them
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in sales, business development, account management, or a related field - scientific instruments experience is a plus but not required
  • Proven track record of hitting or exceeding targets, even early in your career
  • Competitive, goal-driven, and motivated by performance - commission upside excites you
  • Genuinely curious about science and comfortable learning the technical side of our products with training
  • Excellent communicator - confident on the phone, polished in writing, and engaging in person
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage a large and growing territory independently
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and the pace of a small, fast-moving company
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area or San Diego, CA (required) - territory covers the full West Coast
  • Willing and able to travel within territory for demos and customer visits, and occasionally nationally for tradeshows

Nice to Have

  • Background or degree in biology, neuroscience, histology, or a related life science field
  • Experience selling capital equipment, scientific instruments, or other technical products
  • Familiarity with academic procurement processes and grant-funded buying cycles
  • Experience with CRM tools (Streak, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)

Benefits & conditions

  • Competitive base salary + commission structure - strong performers earn meaningfully more
  • Base salary $55,000-$60,000 + commission; OTE $80,000-$95,000 at target
  • 10 vacation days, 15 company-observed holidays, and 7 sick days per year
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Full product training and ongoing one-on-one support from the VP of Sales and Chief Scientific Officer
  • Travel expense coverage for customer visits, demos, and conferences

What You’ll Love About Working Here

  • Ownership - this is your territory to build. The west coast is a wide-open opportunity and you’ll have the autonomy to pursue it your way
  • Making a difference - the instruments you sell are used in labs advancing research into Alzheimer’s Disease, neuroscience, materials sciences, and more
  • Collaborative culture - direct access to company leadership and a team that genuinely supports each other
  • Growth - as Precisionary expands its west coast presence, your earning potential and career trajectory grow with it, * 401(k)
  • 401(k) matching
  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Vision insurance
  • Work from home
