Job description
We are seeking an experienced Spacecraft Integration & Test (I&T) Engineer to support the development, execution, and troubleshooting of electrical and functional testing activities for spacecraft components, subsystems, and fully integrated spacecraft., * Develop, review, and execute test procedures for spacecraft components, subsystems, and integrated spacecraft, including electrical checkout, optical, RF communications, propulsion, guidance, navigation and control (GN&C), and thermal systems.
- Perform safe-to-mate verification, initial power-on, functional testing, and electrical system validation.
- Operate and maintain Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), including power supplies, electronic loads, digital multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, telemetry receivers, and modems.
- Review and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnect drawings, and component specifications to support integration and testing.
- Troubleshoot electrical and system-level anomalies, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Generate test reports, document results, track test metrics, and maintain accurate test records.
- Support spacecraft environmental testing, integration activities, and verification against system requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and systems teams to resolve technical issues and improve test processes.
- Support test automation, scripting, and spacecraft ground system operations.
- Ensure testing activities comply with established aerospace quality standards, safety procedures, and cleanroom protocols.
- Provide occasional support for overnight, weekend, or off-hours testing based on program requirements.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with spacecraft-level testing, electrical ground support equipment (EGSE), test procedure development, and anomaly resolution. This role requires a solid understanding of spacecraft electrical systems, test automation, and integration processes, along with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced aerospace environment., * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in spacecraft integration and testing, electrical testing, or aerospace systems engineering.
- Hands-on experience developing and executing spacecraft or subsystem-level test procedures.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and electronics testing, troubleshooting, and fault isolation.
- Experience operating laboratory and EGSE equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, electronic loads, and RF test instruments.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Experience documenting test results, investigating failures, and supporting corrective action processes.
- Working knowledge of Linux environments and scripting languages such as Python.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% and occasionally support testing outside standard business hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with spacecraft ground control and test systems such as COSMOS/OpenC3 or InControl.
- Familiarity with Epsilon 3 for test procedure development, management, and execution.
- Experience with spacecraft environmental testing, including thermal and other qualification or acceptance testing.
- Knowledge of AS9100 aerospace quality management standards and industry best practices.
- Experience with spacecraft-level electrical integration and functional verification.
- Hands-on experience designing, integrating, or operating FlatSat and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testbeds.
- Experience conducting root cause investigations using methodologies such as 5 Whys and Ishikawa (Fishbone) analysis.
- Familiarity with spacecraft cleanroom operations, contamination control, and ESD protection procedures.
- Experience with requirements analysis, verification planning, and test method development.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, adaptability, and a proactive approach to resolving complex engineering challenges.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate is a hands-on spacecraft test engineer who can independently develop test procedures, configure and operate test equipment, execute spacecraft electrical checkouts, and troubleshoot complex system-level issues.
They should be comfortable working directly with spacecraft hardware, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and supporting critical integration and test milestones while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and technical accuracy.
