Job description
World Services LLC, an IT engineering, solutions, and management consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Developer to support USCIS digital services. This is a hands-on application development role focused on designing, building, testing, maintaining, and improving secure, reliable applications and user experiences.
The role will support online filing, account services, document intake, and related integrations. The selected candidate will develop and enhance Java/Spring Boot services and TypeScript/React interfaces, maintain Ruby on Rails applications, and support application modernization that may include transitions between technology stacks while preserving business behavior, interface compatibility, and data integrity.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working across front-end and back-end application code, APIs, databases, automated tests, and production troubleshooting, with a strong focus on readable code, reusable components, accessibility, and maintainability.
The developer will work closely with Solutions Architects, QA, business analysts, product owners, security personnel, and platform teams to translate requirements into working software, resolve application defects, and support reliable releases.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot application features supporting online filing, account services, document processing, and related digital workflows.
· Develop and enhance Java/Spring Boot services and REST APIs, including business logic, validation, data access, error handling, and integration with connected systems.
· Build and maintain TypeScript/React interfaces and reusable components, including conditional form behavior, state management, validation, accessible interactions, and integration with back-end APIs.
· Analyze, maintain, and enhance Ruby on Rails applications, preserving existing business behavior and resolving defects across application and service layers.
· Implement form behavior and validation using Formik, Yup, Zeus, or other program-approved tools, as applicable to the application architecture.
· Support application modernization and refactoring, which may include Ruby on Rails-to-Java transitions, while maintaining API compatibility, data integrity, and continuity of the user experience.
· Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, API, and regression tests for Java, TypeScript/React, and Ruby applications using appropriate frameworks such as JUnit and RSpec.
· Apply secure coding practices, address application vulnerabilities and dependency findings, and collaborate with security and platform teams on required code-quality checks.
· Implement accessibility, privacy, authorization, and input-validation requirements in application features; partner with QA to verify expected behavior and resolve findings.
· Support application release readiness by documenting code changes, test results, known issues, configuration dependencies, and application-specific deployment considerations in coordination with platform teams.
· Troubleshoot application performance, API failures, user-interface defects, integration issues, and data inconsistencies; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective changes.
· Perform code reviews, reinforce development standards, maintain technical documentation, mentor less-experienced developers, and collaborate across a multi-vendor Agile delivery environment.
