Job description
- Provide 24x7 network surveillance of switching, digital, optical, and associated telecom equipment
- Perform fault analysis, isolation, and remediation across voice/data technologies
- Open, document, and route trouble tickets; escalate to internal teams, vendors, and facility providers
- Serve as single point of contact during high-risk, service-impacting events and maintenance windows
- Maintain accurate tracking records and support partners and field technicians during outages, You start the shift by scanning dashboards and overnight notes, then settle into a steady rhythm of alarms, trends, and quick decisions. When something spikes, you pivot fast-pull logs, compare signals, and coordinate with engineers, vendors, or a tower crew until service stabilizes. Between events, you tighten documentation, update trackers, and prep for scheduled maintenance so customers feel the change as little as possible. Some days are calm and methodical; others hit like a storm front-exactly when sharp troubleshooting and cool communication matter most. You wrap up by handing off clear status updates so the next shift can sprint without missing a beat.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree and 3-5 years in a telecommunications NOC environment
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, SONET, Ethernet, T1, circuit/soft switching, and BSC/RNC architecture
- Strong attention to detail, clear communication, and customer-service mindset
