Job description
Signal Cable is looking for Field Technicians to support fiber optic network construction and maintenance projects throughout Mesa, and nearby communities.
Our work involves installing and connecting fiber optic infrastructure, with particular emphasis on fiber splicing, cable blowing, network testing, and troubleshooting. We’re interested in individuals who have practical field experience, understand the importance of quality workmanship, and can handle technical assignments safely and efficiently.
This is a full-time W-2 employment opportunity directly with Signal Cable.
A Closer Look at the Work
Field Technicians play an important role in keeping our projects moving. Depending on the assignment, you may be preparing fiber cables for splicing, completing fusion splices, working with splice enclosures, or using specialized blowing equipment to install fiber through underground conduits and microduct systems.
Other responsibilities include inspecting connections, testing signal performance, identifying damaged cables, and addressing technical problems that could affect network reliability.
Accurate documentation is also part of the job. You’ll be expected to update work orders, record completed production, report materials used, and keep supervisors informed about progress or unexpected conditions in the field.
Since much of the work takes place around existing telecommunications infrastructure, protecting utilities and surrounding property is essential. All assignments must follow applicable OSHA regulations, project requirements, and company safety procedures.
Requirements
We’re particularly interested in candidates who have worked with fiber optic networks, telecommunications construction, fiber splicing, or underground cable installation.
Experience operating fusion splicers, fiber blowing machines, optical testing devices, and other specialized telecommunications equipment is highly valued. Familiarity with cable routing, low-voltage systems, and general network infrastructure is also beneficial.
We expect our technicians to work responsibly, maintain their equipment, communicate effectively, and take ownership of their daily assignments. The ability to troubleshoot problems, organize work efficiently, and cooperate with other field personnel is important.
Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and access to a truck, van, or SUV suitable for field operations. A background check and drug screening are required, along with access to the tools necessary for the position.
