Job description
· PLC programming in Studio 5000 Logix Designer - ControlLogix and CompactLogix applications from blank project to commissioned system: structured, well-commented ladder logic, plus function block and structured text where they fit.
· Program architecture - build clean, reusable code with UDTs, Add-On Instructions, and consistent tag and routine structures that the next programmer can follow.
· Motion, drives, and networks - configure PowerFlex drives, Kinetix servo where applicable, and EtherNet/IP device networks; set up produced/consumed tags and messaging between controllers.
· Safety - GuardLogix / safety PLC programming and safety I/O configuration where the application requires it.
· HMI / SCADA - develop operator screens and SCADA applications in FactoryTalk View ME/SE, GE Proficy iFIX, and Wonderware (AVEVA InTouch / System Platform), including alarming, trending, historian, and security.
· Control panel design - schematics, panel layouts, I/O assignments, and bills of material for control panels built in our shop.
· Upgrades and migrations - convert PLC-5 / SLC 500 legacy systems to ControlLogix / CompactLogix with minimal downtime.
· Startup and commissioning - I/O checkout, loop testing, FAT/SAT, on-site troubleshooting, and operator training.
· Documentation - as-built drawings, commented program backups, I/O lists, and turnover packages that are complete when the job is done.
· Technical leadership - review code from other programmers, mentor junior designers and electricians, and set programming standards for the division.
Requirements
· 7+ years of industrial controls experience, with Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000 as your primary platform
· Demonstrated ability to write a complete PLC program from a functional description or sequence of operations - not just modify existing code
· Strong working knowledge of ControlLogix and CompactLogix hardware, I/O, and EtherNet/IP networking
· HMI / SCADA development experience in FactoryTalk View ME/SE, GE Proficy iFIX, and/or Wonderware (AVEVA InTouch / System Platform)
· Ability to read and create electrical schematics and work to NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 79
· Field troubleshooting skill - comfortable diagnosing logic, wiring, network, and instrument problems on a live system
· Willingness to travel to customer sites in the region for startups and service
· Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
· Must pass a pre-employment drug test
A plus: AutoCAD Electrical experience - schematic and panel layout drafting, symbol libraries, and automated reports (wire lists, terminal plans, BOMs).
Also nice to have: Rockwell safety (GuardLogix) and motion (Kinetix) experience. PLC-5 / SLC 500 migration experience. Ignition SCADA. Process control and PID loop tuning. Water/wastewater or municipal SCADA background. Siemens TIA Portal or other platforms as a secondary skill.
