Remote Backend Software Engineer - INTL - LATAM

Insight Global is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to support a behavioral health technology company on a remote contract basis. This engineer will design, build, and enhance scalable backend services that support web and mobile healthcare applications.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Python, Flask, and PostgreSQL and is comfortable taking ownership of complex backend development projects. Responsibilities include developing REST APIs, optimizing database performance, integrating third-party services, improving automated testing, and supporting CI/CD and cloud deployment workflows.

This individual will work closely with product, design, QA, engineering, and clinical stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with business needs and patient-care goals. The engineer should be able to ramp up quickly, work independently, contribute to architectural decisions, and deliver within a defined contract engagement.

Skills and Requirements

Required Skills and Experience 4+ years of professional software development experience Strong hands-on experience with Python, Flask, and PostgreSQL Experience designing and maintaining scalable REST APIs Strong understanding of backend architecture and design patterns Experience optimizing database queries and performance Experience integrating third-party services and APIs into production applications Experience writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows Experience working in Agile environments such as Scrum or Kanban Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Nice to Have Experience with EHR integrations, FHIR, and JSON Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes Experience with AWS and Datadog Experience with Redis, Celery, or similar caching and background-task technologies Exposure to machine learning or artificial intelligence applications Experience working in healthcare, fintech, or another regulated industry Understanding of data integrity and compliance considerations

$30-$35/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
