Full Stack/ Python/ React/ AWS Engineer

They are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer with strong Python, React, and AWS experience to join a global investment technology team supporting quantitative research and investment platforms. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work across the front end, backend, data, and cloud layers to build and support applications used by investment professionals, including portfolio managers and traders. The team is responsible for cloud-enabled platforms supporting signal generation, back-testing, data management, and investment analytics across active, factor, and alternative investment strategies. The ideal candidate is a strong software engineer who is comfortable working across the full technology stack and enjoys solving complex technical problems in a collaborative environment. Experience in asset management, equities, quantitative research, trading, or financial technology is highly valued.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support full-stack applications using Python, React, and AWS.
• Build modern web applications and backend services supporting investment research and analytics.
• Develop Python-based APIs and services, primarily using FastAPI.
• Build responsive front-end applications using React 18.
• Design, develop, and support applications running in AWS, including both existing platforms and new cloud-based solutions.
• Participate in AWS architecture and application design for new solutions.
• Work with AWS services including ECS, EC2, Lambda, S3, Step Functions, CloudWatch, and API Gateway.
• Develop scalable APIs, microservices, serverless applications, and data pipelines.
• Work with PostgreSQL and other data technologies supporting investment applications.
• Use Python data and analytics libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and contribute to DevOps and cloud deployment practices.
• Participate in Proofs of Concept (POCs) to evaluate new technologies and architectural approaches.
• Help modernize existing applications and develop new cloud-native solutions.
• Build applications that are secure, resilient, scalable, observable, and performant.
• Collaborate closely with developers, architects, Product Owners, Business Partners, and investment professionals.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions in an Agile development environment.
• Communicate directly with internal investment users, including portfolio managers and traders., * Build technology used directly by investment professionals, portfolio managers, and traders.
• Work on next-generation quantitative research and investment analytics platforms.
• Work across Python, React, and AWS in a true full-stack environment.
• Participate in both application development and AWS architecture/design.
• Work with modern cloud technologies while gaining exposure to the investment industry.
• Collaborate with highly skilled engineers, architects, Product Owners, and investment professionals.

• Senior-level software development experience.
• Strong professional experience developing applications with Python.
• Strong professional experience developing applications with React, preferably React 18.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud development.
• Experience working across the full application stack - front end, backend, APIs, data, and cloud.
• Experience with FastAPI or similar Python web frameworks.
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs, microservices, and/or serverless applications.
• Experience with AWS services such as ECS, EC2, Lambda, S3, Step Functions, CloudWatch, and API Gateway.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database.
• Experience building or supporting data-driven applications and data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices including CI/CD, testing, security, observability, scalability, and performance.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Some experience in Investment/Asset mgmt (companies like Blackrock or Fidelity)

Preferred Experience

• Experience in asset management, investment management, equities, quantitative research, trading, or financial technology.
• Experience supporting quantitative research, back-testing, signal generation, factor strategies, portfolio analytics, or investment applications.
• Understanding of investment concepts such as factor modeling, portfolios, signals, and back-testing.
• Experience working with Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, Boto3, Dask, or other Python data/analytics libraries.
• Experience with additional AWS services such as Glue or Athena.
• Experience with SNS/SQS and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Okta, authentication, or session management.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Bamboo, Bitbucket, Artifactory, or Ansible.
• Experience designing optimized data architectures and caching strategies.
