Job description

At Fiserv, we are dedicated to transforming financial services technology to benefit our clients. As a Java Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software applications. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that align with our business goals and client needs.

You will join a team responsible for building the core merchant onboarding capabilities that power our acquiring platform. We design and develop solutions that manage merchant setup, underwriting, risk evaluation, workflow orchestration, onboarding automation, and integration with payment processing, settlement, and servicing systems.

Engineers on our team work on high-impact initiatives involving distributed systems, API-driven architectures, cloud technologies, workflow automation, and data integration solutions that directly influence the speed, efficiency, and quality of merchant onboarding across the organization.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive the design, development, and implementation of software applications to support Fiserv’s business goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Perform coding, testing, and debugging of applications to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Maintain and improve existing codebases and lead peer review processes.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in Java development
  • 4+ years of experience in Spring Boot and Spring frameworks
  • 2+ years of experience in SQL databases
  • 2+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • 2+ years of experience with Agile methodologies
  • 1 year of Fiserv systems experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Experience in cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform services
  • Experience in the financial services industry

Benefits & conditions

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
