Job description
· Hands-on deployment of learned policies to physical humanoid or legged robots, including bring-up, calibration and ongoing maintenance
· Real-time robot control and low-level integration (ROS/ROS2, onboard compute, sensor and actuator interfaces)
· Sim-to-real transfer, including domain randomization and policy validation in simulation before hardware rollout
· Python and C++, with PyTorch for model inference on embedded or onboard hardware
· Robot safety practices for operating full-size hardware around people
Typical Day in the Role:
· This role owns the path from trained model to reliable on-robot execution: standing up and maintaining a humanoid robot platform, building and owning the deployment pipeline from model checkpoint to real-time control on hardware, and running the sim-to-real loop that closes the gap between trained behavior and physical performance. The role also supports an external hardware collaboration, acting as the technical owner on our side., The main function of an automation engineer is to design, program, simulate, and test automated technology and processes in order to carry out specific tasks. The typical automation engineer is responsible for detailed design specifications and other documents in the process of creation., · Design, develop, and test the manufacture of automated equipment.
· Evaluate the cost effectiveness, reliability and safety of certain design models.
· Estimate time and cost to complete projects.
· Simulate and test machine/structure/system operation.
· Investigate and test vendors’ and competitors’ products., Scope: Owns the path from trained model to reliable on-robot execution - standing up and maintaining a humanoid platform, building the deployment pipeline from checkpoint to real-time control, and running the sim-to-real loop. Also acts as technical owner on our side of an external hardware collaboration. Required skills: hands-on deployment of learned policies to physical humanoid/legged robots including bring-up and maintenance · real-time control and low-level integration (ROS/ROS2, onboard compute, sensors/actuators) · sim-to-real transfer with domain randomization · Python/C++ with PyTorch inference on onboard hardware · robot safety practices around people
Key Projects/Day-to-Day Responsibilities
· Owns the path from trained model to reliable on-robot execution - standing up and maintaining a humanoid platform, building the deployment pipeline from checkpoint to real-time control, and running the sim-to-real loop. Also acts as technical owner on our side of an external hardware collaboration.
