In addition to core development, you will play a key role in supporting our deployment teams and customers by troubleshooting real-world issues, performing root-cause analysis on field failures, and translating customer feedback into software improvements.

Primary duties include:

· Software development: Write clean, modular, and well-documented code for ground robots including DroneDog, our Spot-based quadruped, to create new features for our users and enhance reliability.

· Algorithm & Feature Development: Software development for autonomous ground robot navigation, motion planning (global and local), SLAM, dynamic obstacle avoidance, and sensor fusion

· Sensor Integration: Integrate, calibrate, and filter data from various sensors including LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, wheel encoders, and GPS/RTK.

· Field Testing & Field Deployment: Coordinate, develop, and test product updates, including Software in the Loop (SIL) and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testing.

· Troubleshooting and Customer Support: Directly analyze, diagnose, and resolve technical software issues experienced during development and in the field.

· Root-Cause Analysis & Diagnostics: Review telemetry, logs, and system performance metrics from deployments to perform root-cause analysis on unexpected robot behaviors or software failures.

· Continuous Improvement: Work closely with customer success teams to translate customer pain points into bug fixes, diagnostic tools, and new features.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

· 2+ years of professional experience with software development on robotic systems.

· Ability to work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, precipitation) as dictated by test schedules

· Occasionally required to lift/carry test equipment, laptops, or field gear (up to 20 lbs)

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience deploying software on resource-constrained embedded systems

· Experience with remote diagnostic tools, telemetry platforms, and remote OTA (over-the-air) update systems.

· Experience with physics simulators

· Familiarity with computer vision frameworks and deep learning models
