Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join a collaborative and innovative engineering environment with a business at the beginning of the development journey for their next-generation product. The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Engineers and other members of the engineering team, taking a key role in designing and developing embedded firmware in C for bare-metal applications. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to take on greater technical responsibility and contribute to the development of innovative, high-technology products from an early stage. Job Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain firmware in C to support product enhancements and new product development. Take ownership of embedded software development activities across the product lifecycle. Develop firmware for bare-metal embedded applications. Lead and support the testing, debugging, and integration of embedded solutions. Work closely with Senior Engineers and wider engineering teams to develop robust and reliable embedded products. Follow structured development processes and contribute to code reviews and software quality improvements. Use source code control systems such as Git to manage code versions and development activities. Use task tracking systems such as Jira to record issues, manage development tasks, and support project coordination. Provide technical input into software architecture, design decisions, and development methodologies. Support the mentoring and development of less experienced engineers where appropriate.

Requirements

Experience Required:Strong experience in C programming for bare-metal embedded systems. Experience with communication protocols such as SPI, RS485, and CAN. Strong knowledge of ARM architectures, such as Cortex-M or Cortex-A. Experience developing, debugging, and integrating embedded firmware. Good understanding of embedded software development processes and best practices. Experience using source control systems such as Git. Experience working with task tracking and project management tools such as Jira. Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to software development. Enthusiasm for low-level development and a passion for understanding how hardware and software interact.
