Job description
Senior hands-on Network Architect responsible for integrating acquired-company networks into the parent organization’s Cisco SD-WAN environment. This role owns discovery, target-state network design, migration planning, automation, field-team coordination, and live site cutovers, with travel required.
- Own the network domain end to end for acquired-company integrations. * Assess acquired network environments including circuits, carriers, sites, firewalls, wireless, WAN, and IP address space. * Design target-state networking aligned with the parent company’s Cisco SD-WAN standards. * Develop interim VPN/interconnect architecture during coexistence. * Identify and resolve overlapping IP address spaces between acquired and parent environments. * Design segmentation and network hardening in partnership with security architects. * Develop site-by-site migration and cutover plans accounting for carriers, circuits, hardware lead times, applications, and voice dependencies. * Migrate environments away from inherited Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Meraki technologies where applicable. * Establish Azure network connectivity as workloads transition. * Perform hands-on Cisco configuration, staging, troubleshooting, and cutover work. * Direct on-site engineers and field technicians during migration events. * Define rollback and go/no-go criteria and coordinate production cutovers across sites.
Requirements
- 8+ years of network engineering experience. * Demonstrated design/architecture ownership for live network migrations. * Deep Cisco IOS and IOS-XE experience. * Strong Cisco SD-WAN architecture/design experience. * Strong BGP and OSPF knowledge. * 802.1X and Cisco ISE experience. * Azure networking experience. * Python and/or Ansible automation. * Experience directing field engineers/technicians. * Hands-on Cisco configuration and production cutover capabilities. * Ability and willingness to travel for site migrations and cutovers. * Ability to support night/weekend cutovers. * Previous M&A network integration experience. * CCNP certification. * AWS networking experience. * Enterprise wireless/site survey experience. * Experience migrating/replacing Palo Alto, Fortinet, and/or Meraki infrastructure. * Experience supporting multi-site, field-heavy businesses such as construction, energy, or utilities.
