- Develop firmware in C and C++ on STM32H7 dual-core (Cortex-M7/M4) microcontrollers using STM32CubeIDE and the STM32 HAL.
- Design deterministic, real-time firmware with strict timing budgets, including interrupt, DMA, and peripheral management (SPI, I2S, UART, USB, GPIO).
- Define and implement communication interfaces between embedded controllers, FPGA-based subsystems, and host application software.
- Own the firmware software development lifecycle under IEC 62304, including requirements, architecture, detailed design, risk analysis, and traceability.
- Assist with the unit, integration, and system verification of firmware, including development of automated Python-based test tools.
- Establish and follow firmware coding standards, conduct design and code reviews.
- Collaborate with hardware, FPGA, systems, application software, quality, and regulatory teams to develop requirements and prototypes.
- Author and maintain design documentation, procedures, and firmware content for FDA submissions.
- Build strong working relationships across all functional areas, fostering a collaborative culture that drives the company’s mission forward.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 12+ years of experience in firmware development, including 5+ years developing firmware for medical devices or other highly regulated environments.
- Demonstrated technical leadership in firmware architecture across multiple product development programs.
- Expert proficiency in C and C++ for resource-constrained embedded systems.
- Experience with STM32 microcontrollers and STM32CubeIDE; STM32H7 dual-core experience preferred.
- Hands-on hardware bring-up and debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG/SWD debuggers.
- Experience with automated firmware testing and Python scripting.
- Experience integrating firmware with FPGA-based subsystems is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
