Network Technician

The Network Technician is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting the State of Alabama’s LAN/WAN networks, including voice and data circuits across multiple complex sites. This role involves 24/7 operational support with a primary focus on the 3rd shift, ensuring network reliability and availability through proactive monitoring and incident management., * Monitor network alarms, alerts, and faults to ensure service reliability and availability.

• Maintain and update incident, request, problem, configuration, and change records in ServiceNow.
• Analyze network reports and data to identify and resolve equipment or service issues.
• Initiate trouble reports and coordinate corrective actions with maintenance or technical support teams.
• Participate in shift work including weekends and holidays as part of a 24/7 support team.
• Complete training on 1st and 2nd shifts prior to starting the 3rd shift schedule.

Incident Management, Operational Support, Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Network Monitoring, ServiceNow, Network Performance/Analysis, Analysis Skills, Equipment Maintenance/Repair, Corrective Action, * Minimum 1 year of experience in LAN/WAN maintenance and support.

• Minimum 1 year of call center or service desk experience.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Knowledge of voice and data circuits troubleshooting and research.
• Familiarity with incident ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Remedy.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• CompTIA Network+ Certification.

Special Considerations:

• Must pass Standard background check and ALEA check.
• Position requires working on-site in Montgomery, Alabama; no remote work allowed.
• Must be able to convert to merit system employment at hiring manager’s discretion.
• Submittals limited to prime suppliers with only one level of sub-vendor allowed.

• 3rd shift schedule: 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM.
• Shift rotation: 10 days on, 4 days off, 5 days on, 2 days off, then repeat.
• Initial training includes 2 weeks on 2nd shift and 2 weeks on 1st shift before starting 3rd shift.
• 40 hours per week.
