Job description

We’re hiring two mid-level API engineers (3-5 years) to build the APIs behind this patient-facing platform. The team does spec-driven development with AI coding agents writing much of the first draft. You set clear intent, direct the agents, and own reviewing and testing everything that ships. If that way of working excites you, you’ll fit right in.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Building and owning configurable, multi-step patient workflows, including care-program screening and enrollment, surveys, scheduling, callbacks, and CRM handoff
  • Building integrations with partner systems
  • Owning how the platform understands patient requests through retrieval, LLM agents, and rigorous evaluation of classification quality
  • Writing clear specs, directing AI coding agents, and reviewing and testing all output before it ships
  • Learning the healthcare domain so you understand the problem, not just the ticket

Requirements

  • 3-5 years building production REST APIs in Python (FastAPI or similar)
  • Experience with a document database (Cosmos DB, MongoDB, or DynamoDB), including designing around access patterns
  • Hands-on experience shipping at least one LLM- or retrieval-based feature and measuring how well it worked, or owning a multi-step, multi-system workflow in production
  • Daily, critical use of AI coding assistants
  • Curiosity, openness to learning, and comfort working within agreed specs and standards

Tech Stack Python 3.11, FastAPI, Pydantic, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, and Azure DevOps, plus some C#/.NET and React/TypeScript for internal tools

Nice-to-Haves

  • Healthcare or other regulated-industry experience
  • HIPAA-aware engineering
  • Pydantic AI or another agent framework
  • C#/.NET
  • EHR integration (Epic/FHIR)
  • CRM (Dynamics 365) or scheduling/enrollment integrations

Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience

Benefits & conditions

Depends on Experience, * Up to $68/hr, depending on experience

  • 6-month contract, starting mid-November
  • Fully remote

About the company
