Job description

Our client, a federal services contractor, needs a senior data engineer to build and run cloud data pipelines supporting a government mission. You’ll own the full data lifecycle on AWS, from ingestion through modeling, with a strong emphasis on security and reliability.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and support batch and incremental data pipelines that pull structured and semi-structured data from a variety of sources
  • Develop processing jobs in Python, Spark, and SQL that are fast, stable, and easy to maintain
  • Work across the AWS data stack: S3, Glue, EMR, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, and Step Functions
  • Design lake and warehouse models, including schemas, partition strategies, and metadata catalogs
  • Add validation, monitoring, logging, and alerting to production workloads
  • Enforce security controls such as IAM roles, encryption, and least-privilege access
  • Contribute to automated deployment and infrastructure-as-code for data systems
  • Partner with business and technical teams to scope requirements, resolve issues, and document work

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
  • 8+ years in professional IT, with 5+ focused on data engineering or ETL
  • 3+ years hands-on with AWS data services
  • Expert-level Python and SQL, plus working Spark/PySpark experience
  • Track record supporting large-scale production pipelines
  • Solid grasp of dimensional modeling, warehousing, and data lake design
  • Git and Agile experience
  • Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Bachelor’s in a technical field or equivalent experience

Nice to Haves

  • AWS certification (Data Engineer, Solutions Architect, or similar)
  • Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Airflow/MWAA or Step Functions orchestration
  • Exposure to Databricks, Snowflake, or Informatica
  • Streaming experience with Kafka or Kinesis
  • Background with federal financial or regulatory data
  • Work in FedRAMP or similar compliance-heavy environments
