PHP Developer/Software Engineer

Looking for an experienced PHP Software Engineer to support the replatforming and modernisation of an application. The role will focus on upgrading the application to a supported PHP 8.x version, migrating its database from MariaDB 10.0 to Azure Database for MySQL, and updating integrations for identity, file storage and scheduled tasks.

Working alongside a Platform Engineer and technical and business stakeholders, you will review the existing application, identify and address compatibility issues, and help prepare a tested production release. You will also contribute to deployment automation, automated tests, migration validation and technical handover.

The work is planned over eight weeks, delivered remotely with any on site work in Leeds agreed in advance.

• PHP application development and PHP 8.x upgrades
• MySQL or MariaDB, including schema and data migration
• Automated testing, including PHPUnit
• Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
• Docker and containerised applications
• Identity integrations, such as LDAP, OIDC or SAML
• Azure Storage or cloud file storage integration, This temporary contract is inside IR35 and will require working under the direction of the client delivery manager as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will follow established delivery processes and working practices
