Job description

The Senior Field Engineer - Data Center Services serves as the technical lead for structured cabling projects, providing expertise in copper and fiber infrastructure, field operations, testing, quality assurance, and project execution. This role partners closely with project managers, field teams, customers, and subcontractors to ensure telecommunications infrastructure is installed, tested, and delivered to the highest industry standards. Success in this position requires strong technical leadership, hands-on troubleshooting expertise, a commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to drive projects from planning through closeout.

What You’ll Do

Lead the installation, termination, testing, certification, and troubleshooting of copper and fiber optic structured cabling systems across commercial, industrial, data center, and mission-critical environments. You’ll provide technical leadership to field teams, review project drawings and specifications, resolve installation challenges, and ensure compliance with BICSI, TIA/EIA, NEC, and customer standards. Working closely with project managers, customers, and subcontractors, you’ll support project planning, scheduling, resource coordination, quality assurance, and change management activities. You’ll perform cable certification, fiber testing, system troubleshooting, and project documentation while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and successful project delivery.

What You’ll Bring

You bring deep experience in structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber optic infrastructure, along with strong knowledge of installation best practices, testing methodologies, and telecommunications standards. You have the technical expertise to lead field operations, mentor technicians, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, and ensure projects meet performance, quality, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate is organized, safety-focused, and customer-oriented, with strong communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders in fast-paced project environments. You take ownership of project outcomes, thrive in a leadership role, and have a proven ability to deliver high-quality network infrastructure solutions on time and within scope.

Requirements

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:

We’re seeking an experienced structured cabling and telecommunications leader who combines strong technical expertise with proven field leadership. The ideal candidate has a track record of managing complex infrastructure projects, leading installation teams, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

This individual brings extensive experience in structured cabling, low-voltage systems, and construction environments, with the ability to develop project scopes, coordinate resources, oversee field operations, and drive projects from planning through customer turnover. They are comfortable managing multiple priorities, mentoring technicians, collaborating with customers and project stakeholders, and making sound decisions in fast-paced environments.

Successful candidates will have strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools. They understand industry standards, possess hands-on technical knowledge of structured cabling installation and testing practices, and are confident using the tools and technologies required to support telecommunications infrastructure projects.

Most importantly, we’re looking for a leader who takes ownership, promotes a culture of safety and accountability, develops high-performing teams, and consistently delivers exceptional customer experiences while driving operational excellence across every project.

English language proficiency, including the ability to speak, read, write, and understand English, is required. This is based on the requirement to communicate directly with customer(s) and other employees, to complete regular reporting both to management and to the customer, and to promote safety and efficient communication in the case of emergencies
