Information Security Engineering Specialist

The Information Security Unit, with a team of security experts, is responsible for information security management at VBL. The unit covers the entire spectrum-from developing security requirements to providing support and advice on the implementation of measures, as well as conducting audits and raising awareness-to adequately address the challenges in this area. Your Responsibilities.

• Project Support: You will establish security engineering as an integral part of VBL’s IT projects
• Security Design: You will contribute to the analysis and design of secure architectures and conduct security assessments of specifications
• Security Consulting: You will recommend appropriate security measures and best practices to reduce the attack surface
• Security Guidelines: Developing security guidelines for all lifecycle phases and establishing secure development processes are also part of your responsibilities
• Security Analysis: You will lead and facilitate threat and risk analyses
• Awareness Raising: Teaching methods and techniques in the field of security engineering, as well as conducting security exercises and awareness-raising initiatives, round out your responsibilities

• Education: You hold a relevant academic degree, preferably in computer science with a focus on information security/network technology and security, or have proven equivalent skills and experience at the academic level in the corresponding professional field
• Experience and Knowledge: You have several years of relevant professional experience in the field of information security. In addition, you possess strong expertise in security engineering for IT infrastructure and software projects and are familiar with the relevant standards and practices (e.g., OWASP tools, CIS benchmarks)
• Technical Knowledge: You possess in-depth, practical knowledge of technical IT security and are familiar with security and industry standards (BSI IT-Grundschutz, DORA). You are well-versed in common types of attacks and countermeasures
• IT: You bring in-depth knowledge of IT and network concepts as well as modern web technologies, along with an overview of technical product solutions for security measures
• Personality: As a team player who enjoys working in consulting, you stand out for your excellent communication skills
• Work Style: You bring excellent analytical skills and creativity to the development of security solutions, and you are able to work independently and have strong organizational skills

The position is classified under Pay Grade 15 (TVöD Bund). Classification is based on the applicant’s level of knowledge and experience.
