Solutions Design Manager Logistics in Northampton

• Develop innovative warehouse layouts, operating models, and material handling solutions that optimise space utilisation, productivity, and scalability. \n

• Partner with Commercial and Business Development teams to support customer opportunities, tenders, proposals, and solution presentations. \n

• Engage directly with customers to assess operational requirements, identify challenges, and translate findings into practical logistics solutions. \n

• Produce detailed warehouse designs, operational process flows, capacity planning models, and simulation-based recommendations. \n

• Evaluate and recommend automation technologies including ASRS, AMRs, robotics, sortation systems, conveyor infrastructure, and other automated material handling solutions. \n

• Support projects throughout the full lifecycle, from concept development and solution design through to implementation and operational go-live. \n

• Develop financial models, investment appraisals, and ROI calculations to support business cases and customer proposals. \n

• Work closely with Operations, Engineering, IT, and Project Delivery teams to ensure successful execution and deployment of designed solutions. \n

• Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation across the solutions offering. \n

• Identify potential risks, constraints, and operational dependencies during the design phase to ensure robust and deliverable outcomes. \n

• Proven experience within Solutions Design, Warehouse Design, Supply Chain Engineering, Logistics Consultancy, or Material Handling environments. \n

• Strong understanding of warehouse operations, process improvement methodologies, and facility design principles. \n

• Experience designing automation-led solutions incorporating technologies such as Robotics, ASRS, AMRs, Shuttle Systems, Conveyors, and Sortation Equipment. \n

• Demonstrable experience supporting customer tenders, bids, and logistics solution development activities. \n

• Strong analytical capability with experience creating cost models, operational assessments, and business cases. \n

• Proficient in design and modelling software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Visio, or equivalent design tools. \n

• Excellent stakeholder management and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences. \n

• Experience working within third-party logistics (3PL), e-commerce fulfilment, retail distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain consulting environments would be highly advantageous.

• Previous involvement in tender management, solution implementation, or warehouse transformation projects would be beneficial. \n
