Job description

You join a medium-sized online tech company in Amsterdam that sits at the heart of performance marketing, linking some of the biggest advertisers in the world to tens of millions of consumers every day. Just over a decade old and profitable, they built something genuinely at scale: their platform powers millions of transactions daily, and because their market keeps growing online, so do they. For you that means your code runs where it counts, with real volume behind every decision.

The company is in an exciting phase. With strong demand and fresh investment, they are rebuilding core parts of their platform for the next level of scale. That is exactly where the interesting engineering lives: reliable, maintainable APIs and data flows, systems that stay correct under high load, and services you operate end to end in production. For an engineer who likes to get the abstractions right, these are the problems that keep you sharp., As a Senior Software Engineer Amsterdam you design and build services, APIs, integrations and data flows, with Python as your primary language and Kotlin and Spring Boot for part of the backend. You work in a cloud-native AWS environment with infrastructure as code, and you own your work end to end: from understanding the problem through design, deployment and running it in production.

The real challenge is scale and reliability. How do you build APIs and data flows that stay fast and correct under millions of transactions? How do you handle failure gracefully, and keep high-volume data systems observable and maintainable as they grow? These are the questions you sink your teeth into, and because the platform runs at real scale, the impact of your work is immediate and visible.

You also help shape how the team engineers: you contribute to cloud infrastructure, deployment automation and monitoring, and you help improve how the team uses AI in engineering. This is a deeply hands-on role with a lot of ownership, not a management track.

Requirements

  • Do you get energy from distributed systems where high data volumes, reliability and failure handling are the real challenge?, * 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Conceptually strong with solid computer science fundamentals; a MSc degree is a strong plus
  • Strong backend experience in Python and evolving production systems: APIs, data models and integrations
  • Affinity with event-driven backends, high-volume data or distributed systems
  • Practical cloud and automated deployment experience (AWS and IaC a plus)
  • Experience with Kotlin and Spring Boot is a nice plus (roughly 30% of the backend)
  • Hands-on use of AI coding tools in real work, and the ability to understand and modify agent-generated code
  • Clear communication and collaborative ownership

Benefits & conditions

  • Do you want your work to have a direct impact, on a platform that powers millions of transactions a day for clients around the world?
  • Are you looking for a team of conceptually strong senior engineers where clean code, design discussions and shared ownership are the standard?
  • And do you say yes to a salary up to €90.000 plus bonus, hybrid working and working at the most beautiful office in Amsterdam, with lots of company events?

Then read on!, * Salary between €80.000 & €90.000 based on experience and added value

  • End-of-year bonus up to month
  • 25 holidays, with the option to buy 10 more
  • Flexible hours and the choice of 40, 36 or 32 hours per week
  • Hybrid working: 3 days from home
  • Amazing company lunches made by a professional chef
  • A beautiful office in a great part of Amsterdam
  • Public transport compensation and a laptop or MacBook
  • Big training budget and company-sponsored Dutch lessons
