Job description
The Network Analyst is responsible for the installation, layout, and maintenance of the university’s data network infrastructure. The Network Analyst plans, designs, analyzes, and provides technical support for the data communications network. Also, conducts research and evaluation of network technology and recommends purchases of network equipment. Consults with users to identify and analyze network support needs. Independent judgment and decision making is required., * Assists in building and maintaining University network infrastructure - routers, switches, cabling, voice over IP (VOIP), and other network components.
- Participates in the installation and operation of hardware, software and control elements of the network; and assists with the systems programming, operations, and maintenance staff of connected computing facilities on hardware and software interface matters.
- Installs, implements, certifies, operates and maintains hardware and software elements interfacing with the communications network.
- Assists in building and maintaining wireless network.
- Prepares documentation concerning the adaptation of complex hardware, software and protocols to the communications network.
- Operates and maintains network monitoring and testing facilities to ensure reliable customer access to modems, networks and computers.
- Pulls/installs voice, data, and other cable when needed.
- Provides end-user support on information technology issues through consultation and advising, problem identification, and resolution.
- Assists users with network problems/issues.
- Writes technical documentation as required.
- Works as a team player, supporting and assisting other employees.
- Provides network support/services to other IT employees that need it to complete their tasks.
- Collaborates with Network Engineer to manage and develop the campus network infrastructure.
- Maintains a neat, safe, and orderly work environment.
- Trouble shoots standard and non-standard issues.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Do you have experience in IT department experience?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related field; an equivalent combination of experience and training may be substituted for degree requirement
- at least four (4) years’ full-time experience in IT networking and telephony or formal education, networking certifications in the computer networking infrastructure field
