Job description

Fuxam is building the most modern campus and learning management software for German universities. Our customers are public and private universities looking to future-proof their teaching, administration, and student processes. As a Senior Fullstack Engineer, you’ll build the core functionality of our platform, from data model and backend logic to performant, accessible React components. You’ll take on architectural responsibility and integrate AI-powered features deep into the substance of our product. You’ll help us build a technically excellent product, working closely with Product, Customer Success, and our CTO., * You share responsibility for the end-to-end development of core platform features, from data model, API, and backend logic to React components and UI.

  • You actively shape architectural decisions around data modeling, API design, performance, scalability, and multi-tenancy.
  • You build and integrate AI-powered features into our platform: LLM integrations, embeddings, RAG patterns, and evaluation setups.
  • You set and maintain quality standards: code reviews, tests, observability, and documentation, so we can still ship fast two years from now.
  • You work closely with Product and the CTO and translate functional requirements from the higher education context into clean technical solutions.
  • You work with the latest AI tools (e.g. Cursor, Claude Code) and our modern stack.

Requirements

Do you have experience in TypeScript?, Do you have a Master’s degree?, * Relevant experience as a Fullstack Engineer. We’re looking for profiles with a real track record, not fresh graduates. We don’t filter by a rigid number of years; we look at your individual experience.

  • You know our stack. Required: TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js, React.js, Tailwind CSS. Nice to have: Prisma ORM, Vercel AI SDK, prompt engineering, and experience with vector storage technologies (e.g. Pinecone, Weaviate).
  • Strong judgment in design and architecture. You recognize when “good enough” really is good enough, and when a decision will come back to bite you in two years.
  • You know your way around AI. Fuxam is AI-native, and that goes double for this role. You work with AI tools when coding every day (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, or similar), and you build AI features into the product.
  • Quality mindset. You review your own work because you want to deliver your best, not because a task definition tells you to. You document because your future self will thank you. You take code reviews seriously.
  • Drive, team fit, and performance. Lots of people can code these days, that alone isn’t enough for us. We’re looking for people who genuinely want to move things forward, bring their own ideas, take ownership, and deliver results, not just code. You work independently, communicate directly and clearly, give honest technical feedback, and take it the same way.
  • Languages: Excellent English; German is a plus but not a must.
  • Bonus: Experience with multi-tenancy, SSO/OIDC, accessibility (WCAG/BFSG), or software in the education sector.

About the company

  • Flexibility we actually live. Hybrid work with regular presence in our Berlin office, flexible hours, a clear trust-first approach.
  • Work with substance. Fuxam changes how educational institutions work. Not as a marketing promise, but as concrete relief for the people whose job it is to educate others. Universities, vocational schools, and academies are stuck in a real modernization backlog; what you build has direct impact on the daily lives of teachers, administration, and students.
  • A team you can take seriously. Experienced, professionally strong colleagues who support each other without falling into manufactured team spirit. Direct communication, honest feedback, mutual respect. We have a dedicated team-building budget for joint workshops and team events, because personal collaboration also has impact outside of the everyday work.
  • Fair, market-competitive compensation at senior level. Competitive base salary, modern hardware of your choice, an engineering setup without skimping on tools. We believe good engineering work needs good equipment.
  • We embrace Culture & Growth: Do you want to take responsibility, love challenges, and want to grow with us? Perfect! It’s important to us to continuously improve how we work together and to make sure everyone on the team gets to shape it., Fuxam GmbH is an edtech startup from Berlin. With our all-in-one software solution, we want to help all educational institutions to digitize and automate their own processes. Our software can therefore be seen as an operating system that combines an LMS, an exam management system and a comprehensive administration system. A secure but precise AI rounds off the overall package.
