Job description
We are seeking skilled mid to senior level Data Center UPS Technicians responsible for the installation, startup, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical power systems supporting mission-critical data center operations in Richmond, VA. This role is focused on hands-on commissioning and advanced troubleshooting of UPS and critical power infrastructure in live data center environments., * Install, startup, and commission UPS systems, battery systems, PDUs, switchgear, ATS, and static transfer switches
- Perform full commissioning of critical power systems including startup verification, functional testing, and system validation
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on UPS systems, battery banks (VRLA and lithium-ion), PDUs, switchgear, and generators
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic faults in three-phase power systems, controls, and power electronics
- Perform load bank testing, battery testing, infrared thermography, and power quality analysis
- Respond to emergency service calls, outages, and commissioning punch-list items to restore system functionality
- Interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and commissioning documentation to support installation and troubleshooting
- Support data center commissioning, system integration, and infrastructure expansion projects
- Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and site-specific safety procedures at all times
- Complete detailed service reports, commissioning documentation, and maintenance records
- Work with UPS platforms including Schneider Electric, Vertiv, Eaton, and Mitsubishi Electric
- Verify operation of SCADA systems, power monitoring systems, generators, and electrical distribution equipment
- Ensure uptime and proper commissioning of mission-critical electrical infrastructure in live data center environments
Requirements
Do you have experience in Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)?, * Mid to senior level commissioning experience with UPS systems, battery systems, and critical power infrastructure (REQUIRED)
- Strong background in electrical, electronics, industrial power systems, or military power generation
- Experience with three-phase power systems and critical electrical distribution
- Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and technical commissioning documents
- Skilled in troubleshooting electrical systems, controls, and power electronics
- Experience with load bank testing, infrared scanning, and battery systems preferred
- NFPA 70E, OSHA 10/30, or NETA certifications preferred
- Must be able to perform physically demanding electrical work including lifting up to 50 lbs and working at heights
- Must have reliable transportation and standard electrical hand tools
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must be able to work in full PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe boots
Benefits & conditions
$45 - $62 an hour - Temp-to-hire, Full-time
