Job description
The Solution Architect is responsible for defining the end-to-end architecture strategy and governance for planning systems across Demand, Supply, and Finite Scheduling. This role focuses on enterprise architecture, integration, data strategy, and technology decisions across SAP ERP and legacy ecosystems, enabling scalable, compliant, and future-ready planning capabilities across multiple divisions.Phase 0 / Strategy & Architecture
- Develop an enterprise planning architecture strategy that aligns with Abbott’s divisions while balancing global standards and divisional needs.
- Lead assessments of current systems, integrations, and the overall data landscape.
- Evaluate and select planning platforms (such as Kinaxis, OMP, SAP IBP, etc.) from an architectural standpoint.
- Define high-level solution architecture, including integration patterns and deployment models.
- Establish a planning platform strategy that considers whether to adopt a single platform or multiple platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and divisional requirements.
- Determine a strategy for global templates versus individual instances for planning solutions across divisions, regions, and business units
Key Responsibilities - Architecture & Design
- Develop a comprehensive end-to-end solution architecture for planning systems that integrate with multiple ERP systems.
- Define interaction models for systems across planning tools, SAP, and legacy applications.
- Design architectures that are scalable, resilient, and secure, in accordance with enterprise standards.
- Provide design oversight and governance for various delivery teams and programs.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture frameworks, security protocols, and regulatory standards.
- Lead design reviews and approve essential architectural decisions.
Data & Integration Architecture
- Define enterprise data architecture, including master data models and a harmonization strategy.
- Establish integration architecture, utilizing APIs, middleware, event-driven approaches, and batch processing across SAP and legacy systems.
- Specify data flow requirements, latency expectations, and system orchestration patterns for planning processes.
- Ensure effective data governance, implement quality frameworks, and maintain consistency across platforms.
- Collaborate across various IT teams on data platforms, pipelines, and enabling analytics.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Team leadership?, * Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture and supply chain systems.
- Deep expertise in SAP ERP (S/4HANA preferred) and integration architecture.
- Strong experience with planning tools (Kinaxis, OMP, SAP IBP, Blue Yonder).
- Proven experience designing architectures in complex, multi-system environments.
- Strong knowledge of life sciences supply chain and GxP requirements.
- Excellent leadership, influence, and decision-making skills.
