Job description

We are seeking an experienced IT Technician II to support telecommunications field operations for Georgia Power. This role will assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of telecommunications systems, data networks, LAN/WAN, fiber optic systems, digital microwave, voice systems, wireless data communications, alarm systems, and DC power systems., * Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair telecommunications and data transport networks.

  • Support telecom field operations and project-related work.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software related to PCs, peripheral devices, telecom systems, alarm systems, and DC power systems.
  • Support LAN/WAN, voice, wireless data, fiber optic, and digital microwave systems.
  • Rack and stack network and telecom equipment.
  • Coordinate with internal business partners, vendors, contractors, and technical teams.
  • Escort tower crews and external contractors to telecom sites as needed.
  • Maintain accurate circuit records, equipment inventories, and site documentation.
  • Follow safe work practices and manage multiple assignments effectively.
  • Travel as needed within the Georgia Power footprint and occasionally beyond.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Wireless communication system operation?, The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of hands-on telecommunications experience , strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with internal teams, vendors, contractors, and technical groups. Travel within the Georgia Power service footprint and occasionally beyond may be required., * 3-5 years of hands-on experience with telecommunications systems.

  • Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing digital microwave, fiber optic networks, LANs, voice systems, and wireless data communications.
  • Understanding of telecom, wireless, data, and voice network topologies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PCs, peripherals, telecom systems, alarm systems, and AC/DC power systems.
  • Experience racking and stacking network or telecom equipment.
  • Strong computer, troubleshooting, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to travel as needed., * Education, military training, or hands-on experience in electronics or telecommunications.
  • Telecom, networking, fiber optic, electronics, or IT certifications.
  • Experience with LAN/WAN support, cellular systems, microwave systems, fiber optic cabling, and telecom power systems.
