IT Systems Administrator

Universal Remote Control (URC) is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled IT Systems Administrator to support and maintain the organization’s technology infrastructure. This role is responsible for the administration, security, performance, and reliability of servers, networks, cloud services, end-user systems, and business-critical applications.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong experience in Microsoft environments, network administration, cybersecurity best practices, and end-user support. This individual will play a key role in ensuring technology systems remain secure, efficient, and aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Administration

· Install, configure, maintain, and support Windows and Linux servers, desktops, laptops, and enterprise systems.

· Monitor system health, performance, availability, and capacity across the IT environment.

· Perform system upgrades, patch management, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

· Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, and print services.

· Manage Microsoft 365 administration, user provisioning, licensing, and cloud-based services.

· Maintain SSL certificates, domain registrations, and related infrastructure services.

Network & Infrastructure Management

· Support and maintain LAN, WAN, wireless networks, VPN connectivity, firewalls, switches, and routers.

· Monitor network performance and proactively identify issues impacting business operations.

· Assist with infrastructure upgrades, technology refresh projects, and system implementations.

· Maintain accurate documentation of network architecture, configurations, and procedures.

· Manage hardware, software, licensing, and technology inventory.

Cybersecurity & Business Continuity

· Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices across systems and networks.

· Manage endpoint protection, antivirus solutions, firewalls, access controls, and monitoring tools.

· Ensure backup systems are functioning properly and conduct regular recovery testing.

· Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning initiatives.

· Assist with compliance requirements, audits, security assessments, and policy enforcement.

Technical Support & End-User Services

· Provide Tier 1-3 technical support for hardware, software, network, and application issues.

· Configure and deploy laptops, workstations, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.

· Troubleshoot and resolve service requests in a timely and professional manner.

· Support onboarding and offboarding activities, including account setup and access management.

· Deliver user training and promote cybersecurity awareness throughout the organization.

IT Asset Management

· Procure, deploy, track, and retire technology assets throughout their lifecycle.

· Maintain accurate inventory records and asset documentation.

· Coordinate asset reporting and reconciliation with Finance and Accounting teams.

· Ensure software licensing compliance and hardware accountability.

Do you have experience in VPN management?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

· 3+ years of experience in Systems Administration, Network Administration, IT Support, or a similar technical role.

Strong knowledge of:

· Windows Server environments

· Active Directory and Group Policy

· Microsoft 365 Administration

· Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)

· Endpoint management and troubleshooting

· Experience with patch management, backups, monitoring tools, and system maintenance.

· Understanding of cybersecurity principles and security best practices.

· Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

· Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

· Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, or similar platforms.

· Experience administering Linux environments.

· Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud infrastructure.

· Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server administration.

· Exposure to software development environments and .NET technologies.

· Industry certifications such as:

· Microsoft Certified

· CompTIA Network+

· CompTIA Security+

· VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

· Azure Administrator Associate
