A key role within the Savion - Energy Resource & Performance Engineering team focusing on the energy resource and technical specifications of large-scale solar projects.

Savion seeks a highly motivated Senior Energy Resource & Performance Engineer with a passion for renewable energy to join the Engineering organization. This position will report to the Director, Energy Resource & Performance Engineering while also working closely with multiple parts of the wider Savion business.

The position will have a primary focus on leading energy yield assessments, including statistical analysis of data, PV energy output modeling, technical and other loss evaluation, and uncertainty analyses. The role will contribute to the development of technical assumptions and energy estimates used to support project development, financing, and key stakeholder decisions.

The candidate will also support the evaluation of measured-versus-modeled performance to help inform technical investigations and continuous improvement efforts. On occasion, the role will support EPC plant acceptance testing/commissioning (Capacity & Energy Tests).

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex energy yield assessments, including evaluation of key assumptions, loss factors, and uncertainty drivers
  • Modify analyses to quantify project performance based on module specifications, GCR, bifacial application, and other key design inputs
  • Interpret MET station and publicly available data as it pertains to energy performance and site characteristics
  • Support the evaluation of measured-versus-modeled performance to inform technical investigations and continuous improvement efforts
  • Work closely with Business Development, Finance, and project teams to provide energy inputs and technical guidance for project valuation and decision-making
  • Prepare and participate in detailed technical reviews of performance modeling, assumptions, and technology selections with internal stakeholders and external consultants
  • Review third-party energy assessments and technical studies to support alignment and consistency with internal methodologies
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and analysts through technical guidance, peer review, and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to the development and standardization of internal tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Monitor and stay current on technological trends, industry standards, and best practices for solar energy modeling
  • Support and help resolve a range of technical and specialist issues across projects
  • Successfully manage expectations regarding scope, quality, and delivery timelines

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of experience in energy analysis, resource assessment, or performance engineering within renewable energy
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, meteorology, physics, or related field
  • Advanced proficiency with PVsyst
  • Experience with Vaisala, SolarGIS, or SolarAnywhere datasets
  • Strong understanding of project design considerations and loss assumptions
  • QA/QC capability on resource data and models
  • Experience evaluating measured vs modeled performance
  • Excel proficiency and Python (preferred)
  • Familiarity with SAM and/or visualization tools (Power Bi etc..)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

Minimum Criterion (Mandatory)

  • Degree qualification in relevant discipline
  • Experience in solar resource assessment or modeling
  • Proficiency with PVsyst
  • Ability to work cross-functionally
