Job description
The Senior Applications Engineer leads electrical equipment proposal efforts from initial opportunity through drawing approvals. This role supports multiple product lines, including high-voltage, medium-voltage, and low-voltage equipment, power transformers, controls, monitoring systems, and field services. The position requires direct interaction with customers and collaboration with sales to close complex projects. It also involves technical discussions with end users, contractors, consulting engineers, utilities, and equipment vendors., * Lead cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, vendor management, logistics, and services to ensure complete and accurate project design and development.
- Partner closely with sales to understand customer needs, concerns, and project requirements.
- Develop comprehensive project proposals that clearly communicate value to the customer.
- Maintain strong relationships with end users, consulting engineers, and vendors.
- Interpret and modify specifications, one-line diagrams, schematics, and project schedules.
- Ensure proposals reflect accurate costing, risk mitigation, and a full understanding of project requirements.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain urgency with internal and external stakeholders to meet deliverable timelines.
- Understand customer schedules and align them with realistic vendor lead times, setting proper expectations for successful project execution.
- Represent the company in quotation reviews, leveling meetings, and technical discussions with customers and engineering firms.
- Provide internal updates on projected wins to support downstream planning for project management and field service resources.
- Manage customer expectations throughout the quotation and proposal process.
Technical & Commercial Excellence
- Identify gaps or deficiencies in customer specifications and propose value-added alternatives.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers at all levels, from order management to senior leadership.
- Develop and monitor reports related to proposals, costing, and project readiness.
- Identify opportunities to optimize processes and improve proposal quality and efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across applications engineering workflows.

- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Vendor relationship management?, * 8-10 years of progressive experience in applications engineering, electrical equipment, or a related technical field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience., * Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Advanced understanding of electrical equipment concepts, industry practices, and engineering procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex technical and commercial issues.
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams and interact directly with customers and vendors.
- Experience working with contractors and managing change orders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
