Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION: This person will provide technical expertise and proficiency to maintain reliable and efficient operations of the internal and external networks designed to support the Tulalip Tribes systems. This person will also maintain and enhance network performance and reliability of LAN, WAN, WLAN, and Telephony networks supporting the Tulalip Tribes Government operations., * Install, configure and support a wide variety of network equipment such as routers, switches, ONT’s and

other network equipment

  • Create, maintain and update documentation of the commercial network infrastructure

  • Monitor WLAN performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed

  • Install, wireless access points in designated locations; inspect connectivity and signal strength for quality

  • Troubleshoot, identify, repair and/or replace faulty LAN/WAN systems, equipment, or components

  • Monitor network traffic and status to provide early detection and isolation of network issues

  • Perform comprehensive monitoring and alerting of network systems across the entire network

infrastructure

  • Perform routine security checks to ensure network integrity

  • Conduct periodic security audits, including simulated sniffing, eavesdropping, penetration testing, and

devices settings management

  • Performs updates, patching, and full system upgrades for all L 2 and 1.3 network equipment

  • Provide first layer response for after hour support for network and connectivity issues to residential,

commercial and enterprise customers

  • Provide after hour access to secure network spaces to commercial co-location customers

  • Troubleshoot and repair various commercial third party high speed data lines for commercial and

enterprise customers

  • Triage, assess and mobilize equipment, parts, staff and materials to restore network connectivity in

emergency conditions to minimize system downtimes

  • Coordinate planned network outages with external customers to minimize network traffic disruption

  • Participate in the daily operation of the corporate network and telephony infrastructure

  • Assist in technology projects as assigned

  • Performs other related duties as deemed necessary or requested.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a Regular Full-time position, requiring at least 40 hours per week, or 2080 hours per year. Employee may be required to work

after hours, weekends, special events and/or on call. Upon successful completion applicable probationary period employee may be

eligible for an increase in pay, subject to budgetary restriction. Employees will be required to work on-site, no telecommuting. No

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Wireless network configuration?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * High School Diploma or GED equivalent required

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology and/or Computer Science, or related courses from an

accredited college preferred. Years or experience, education, and/or training may be considered in lieu of degree. (Copies of degree or college transcripts must be submitted with application if applicable.)

  • Current CCNA Certification required

  • Current Network + Certification required

  • Juniper Networks Juno Associate Certification preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision, prioritizing and completing assignments and tasks

  • Must be able to work well under pressure and within time restraints.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have strong foundation in principles, planning, and implementation of TCP/IP networks

  • Must have knowledge of WAN topologies, telecommunications products, and protocols

  • Must have ability to engineer network equipment from Brocade, Cisco, Juniper, Adtran, Pato Alto, Zhone

and other vendors

  • Must have the ability to manage firewalls, switches, and routers for core and access networks

  • Must have the ability to work on PRI circuits and connections from TI up to 10 GigE

  • Must have experience in WLAN packet analysis, signal optimization and POE

  • Must have solid understanding of WLAN switching and routing techniques for Ethernet networks

  • Must be able to troubleshoot, identify, and replace failed electronic components

  • Perform network cable installation, termination and testing to EIA/TIA standards

  • Must be able to keep accurate documentation of network repairs and equipment replacements

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a minimum five (5) years of experience managing network switches, routers, and firewalls.

  • Must have a minimum three (3) years of experience providing after-hours technical support for network

or connectivity failures.

  • Must have a minimum three (3) years of experience working as a CCNA technician

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • In-depth knowledge of network monitoring software

  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with major Internet routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF

  • Must have experience designing network and datacenter installations utilizing L2 and L 3 protocols

  • Must have competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits

  • Must have experience with, and expertise in many of the following protocols and technologies: SIP, Tl

/DSI , 802.1 1, VLANs, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP, BGP, OSPF, HSRP, TACACS, IPSEC & VPNs, firewalls, Net flow, DNS, and HTTP

  • Must have understanding of information security policies such as HIPPA and PCI

  • Must have the tolerance and patience for dealing with upset, angry, and/or frustrated individuals.

  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license. Employee will be required to use company

vehicle(s) to visit various customer locations as well as Tribal department for installation, troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Must be able to successfully complete a Tribal, State and Federal background investigation.

  • Must be able to pass a hiring and periodic random urinalysis

  • Must possess and maintain personal automobile insurance

  • Must be available 24/7 for any travel emergencies that may arise.

  • Must be available for periodic overtime or on-call status as required.

  • Must be witting to attend progressive job related training as requested.

  • Must have a successful employment history with current and past employers.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND/OR PREREQUISITES:

  • Manual and finger dexterity for the operation of a personal computer and routine paperwork.

  • Stamina to sit, stand, and/or walk for prolonged periods of time.

  • Tolerance to be exposed to computer screen for prolonged periods of time on a regular basis.

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.

  • Mobility to bend, stoop, and/or climb stairs on an occasional basis.
