DOTComm is seeking a Senior Systems Analyst - Mainframe/COBOL to support enterprise applications that provide essential services to Douglas County and the City of Omaha. If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, supporting enterprise applications, troubleshooting production issues, and contributing to the long-term success of critical systems, we encourage you to apply., The Senior Systems Analyst - Mainframe/COBOL is responsible for the analysis, development, maintenance, support, and enhancement of enterprise mainframe and COBOL-based applications. This role works closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient operation of mission-critical systems., * Design, develop, maintain, and support COBOL-based business applications and related interfaces.
- Analyze business and technical requirements and develop functional and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues through root cause analysis, code review, data analysis, and collaboration with internal teams and vendors.
- Perform code maintenance, enhancements, testing, implementation, and deployment activities.
- Develop and maintain batch jobs, file transfers, interfaces, and supporting job control processes.
- Support DB2 and IMS databases and related data access processes.
- Participate in application testing activities including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing support.
- Assist with vendor troubleshooting, software support, and environment management activities.
- Maintain application stability, performance, and availability for critical business systems.
- Collaborate with management and business stakeholders to identify technology solutions that support business needs.
- Assist with project implementation activities, timelines, and deliverables.
- Provide knowledge transfer, documentation, and cross-training support for peers and support teams.
- Participate in change management processes and on-call support activities as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Do you have experience in TypeScript?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in software development, systems analysis, application support, and maintenance within enterprise application environments.
Preferred Experience
Experience with one or more of the following:
- COBOL development and support
- Mainframe application support and maintenance
- JCL and batch job processing
- DB2 and IMS databases
- SQL calls and IMS calls
- File-AID, Abend-AID, Zeke, FTP, Roscoe, Syncsort, Top Secret, and Xpediter
- Production support for mission-critical enterprise systems
- Application integrations and batch processing environments
Other Requirements
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
