Job description

The Software Solutions Architect provides technical leadership for the design, modernization, and implementation of secure DOJ mission and business systems. This role develops enterprise and application architectures that align with federal cybersecurity requirements, cloud strategies, and DOJ IT objectives. The architect collaborates with government stakeholders, program managers, developers, cybersecurity teams, and operations personnel to deliver scalable, compliant, and mission-focused solutions., * Design and document enterprise, system, and application architectures.

  • Develop target-state architectures, technical roadmaps, and modernization strategies.
  • Lead architecture reviews, design sessions, and provide guidance on best practices.
  • Establish architecture standards, reusable frameworks, and reference models.
  • Architect solutions across AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, and hybrid/on-premises environments.
  • Lead cloud migration, containerization, and application modernization initiatives.
  • Design highly available, resilient, and performance-optimized systems.
  • Implement DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Ensure compliance with NIST RMF, NIST 800-53, Zero Trust Architecture, FISMA, FedRAMP, DOJ policies, and STIG requirements.
  • Integrate security controls including ICAM, MFA, PKI, and role-based access management.
  • Support ATO activities, security assessments, and system security documentation.
  • Design APIs, data architectures, and secure system integration solutions.
  • Advise government leadership on technology selection, risk management, and architectural trade-offs.
  • Produce technical briefings, white papers, and architectural decision documentation.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Zero trust architecture design?, Do you have a Master’s degree?, * Active Secret clearance (TS preferred).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of software engineering and architecture experience.
  • Experience designing secure federal government systems.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), preferably government environments.
  • Expertise in microservices, service-oriented architecture, API design, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift), DevSecOps, CI/CD, Zero Trust, and identity/access management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • DOJ, FBI, DEA, or other federal law enforcement experience.
  • Experience supporting FedRAMP High environments.
  • Knowledge of TOGAF, FEAF, or DoDAF frameworks.
  • Certifications such as AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, CISSP, or SAFe Architect.
