Job description

  • Develop technical requirements for satellite user terminal antenna systems, including modem integration and terminal architecture.
  • Support the definition of antenna and modem performance requirements and assess emerging vendor technologies.
  • Evaluate supplier-developed terminal solutions for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and scalability.
  • Review integration strategies between antenna systems and modem technologies for future terminal designs.
  • Recommend design improvements and new terminal concepts to achieve cost, performance, and reliability objectives.
  • Define and oversee testing activities to validate system assumptions using antenna and user terminal prototypes.
  • Develop supporting documentation, compliance matrices, and test requirements for terminal qualification and certification activities.
  • Lead technical assessments of electronically steerable antenna (ESA) technologies, including next-generation and emerging solutions.
  • Monitor developments in satellite communications, 5G antenna technologies, and industry interoperability standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or a relevant technical field.
  • PhD focused on electronically steerable antenna research is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in satellite antenna systems, user terminals, satellite communications, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Experience with electronically steerable antenna technologies and modem integration.
  • Experience supporting the deployment or commercialisation of ESA-based products is advantageous.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong background in the simulation, design, and testing of electronically steerable antennas for satellite communications.
  • Knowledge of flat-panel antenna architectures and integration with a range of modem technologies.
  • Familiarity with antenna control protocols and modem interoperability standards.
  • Expertise in Ka-band antenna technologies for land mobile, aeronautical, maritime, and fixed communications applications.
  • Understanding of satellite modems, gateway systems, RF equipment, and communications networks.
  • Solid foundation in electromagnetics, phased array systems, and antenna architecture.
  • Experience with RFIC selection, beamforming technologies, and array antenna manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of beam steering, beam shaping, and antenna control techniques.
  • Ability to balance performance, cost, power consumption, and manufacturability in design decisions.
  • Experience working with external suppliers and technology partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
