Under the general supervision of the Associate Director and WAN Manager, the Wireless & VoIP Network Engineer designs, implements, and supports district enterprise wireless systems, with secondary responsibility for VoIP, unified communications, and legacy analog (POTS) systems. The position provides technical assistance, direction, and training to network users, computer technicians, and STS personnel and may also be called upon to assist technicians and other engineers with tasks outside the primary scope, as operational needs require. Description Classified job is announced to all qualified applicants. Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, May 29,2026. 8 hours/day, 257 days/year - Within District guidelines on table 18 (Promotions result in a minimum 5% increase) Key Responsibilities Wireless Networking (Primary Focus) * Design, implement, and support enterprise WLAN systems across all district locations * Configure and maintain Cisco/Aruba controllers, APs, SSIDs, VLANs, and security settings * Perform RF surveys, coverage analysis, and capacity planning * Troubleshoot performance, interference, roaming, authentication, and connectivity issues * Support 802.1X, WPA2/WPA3-Enterprise, RADIUS, NAC, and guest access * Install and maintain wireless hardware in varied environments (ceilings, rooftops, IDFs/MDFs) * Coordinate wireless design with facilities and construction teams * Maintain standards, documentation, inventories, and network diagrams VoIP / Unified Communications (Secondary Focus) * Support
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Wireless network deployment projects?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, Cisco CUCM, Unity, SIP trunks, PSTN, and E911 services * Manage dial plans, endpoints, voicemail, and call routing * Troubleshoot call quality, QoS, and SIP-related issues * Maintain system documentation and inventories Legacy Analog (POTS) * Support analog lines for elevators, alarms, and fax systems * Coordinate installs, migrations, and disconnects with vendors and facilities * Maintain line inventory and assist with transition to modern solutions Additional Duties * Collaborate with network, voice, and security teams * Support escalations, maintenance windows, and after-hours response * Assist with budgeting, purchasing, documentation, and inventory * Provide technical guidance to technicians and staff Minimum Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent * Associate degree in IT, networking, or related field (or equivalent experience) * CompTIA A+ or equivalent knowledge * Two (2) years of experience with enterprise wireless, networking, or VoIP systems * Valid driver license Preferred Skills * Cisco and/or Aruba wireless platforms * RF surveys, heat mapping, and capacity planning * 802.1X, WPA2/WPA3-Enterprise, RADIUS, NAC * Cisco CUCM and VoIP systems * QoS, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing fundamentals * Packet capture and performance analysis * Structured cabling, PoE, and low-voltage systems * Strong communication and organizational skills Job Related Experience Two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Physical Requirements * Lift up to 50 lbs * Work on ladders, lifts, ceilings, rooftops, IDFs/MDFs, and exterior locations * Ability to work in confined and physically demanding environments Desired Certifications * Cisco CCNA/CCNP or Wireless certifications * Aruba ACMA/ACMP or equivalent * CompTIA Network+ or similar * Ekahau or wireless survey certification preferred
