Job description

As the Director, Central Transformation, you are the primary architect of the transformation vision and process roadmap for Ford’s enterprise-wide transformation. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the organization’s overarching operational transformation strategy. This position is responsible for driving enterprise-wide continuous improvement and problem solving initiatives, developing standardized methodologies, and fostering a culture of operational excellence across all business units.

The Director, Central Transformation is responsible for defining technical vision, architectural roadmap, and process re-engineering excellence standards for all enterprise-wide operational transformation initiatives. This role drives the adoption of advanced methodologies, technologies, and best practices to achieve significant, scalable improvements across the entire organization, fostering a culture of technical innovation and continuous improvement.

You Will…

  • Strategic Process Architecture & Standards: Define the long-term process roadmap and establish the “Gold Standard” for process engineering, problem solving, and digital transformation frameworks across all business units.

  • Value-Driven Portfolio Management: Strategically oversee the transformation portfolio and “Waste Inventory,” driving decisions on resource distribution and investment allocation to maximize enterprise ROI.

  • Process Authority & Mentorship: Provide expert process design review and guidance to central and dedicated teams, ensuring methodological rigor, innovative solution design, and adherence to established standards.

  • Enterprise Integration & Stakeholder Alignment: Lead the process design of complex, cross-functional programs, partnering with IT and GDIA to ensure seamless integration of digital tools with optimized workflows.

  • Capability Advancement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement and problem-solving excellence by driving enterprise-wide skill development, knowledge sharing, and a “first-principles” approach to problem-solving.

  • Process Risk Governance: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate process and systemic risks associated with large-scale integrations and complex transformation efforts.

  • Impact & Performance Measurement: Define and track sophisticated KPIs to measure the effectiveness of implemented solutions, utilizing data-driven insights to fuel continuous optimization.

You’ll Have…

  • Visionary Process & Systems Leadership: Ability to define enterprise-level process standards and frameworks and drive long-term process coherence across a global organization.

  • Executive Leadership & Talent Development: Proven experience in leading, inspiring, and coaching high-performing continuous improvement and transformation teams toward a shared vision of innovation.

  • Strategic Change Management: Expertise in driving organizational adoption, managing resistance, and leading teams through large-scale process transitions.

  • Complex Problem Solving: Deep mastery of Lean Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, and other continuous improvement frameworks to solve intricate process and systemic challenges at scale.

  • Communication & Influence: Superior ability to translate complex process and transformation roadmaps into clear business value for executive leadership and diverse stakeholders.

  • Program & Portfolio Execution: Strong capabilities in overseeing the execution lifecycle of complex transformation programs from design to enterprise-wide rollout.

  • Financial & Business Acumen: Deep understanding of the cost implications, ROI, and long-term financial benefits associated with transformation investments.

  • Navigating Ambiguity: The resilience to lead effectively through uncertainty, providing clear direction and structured solutions in rapidly changing environments.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Systems, Mechanical), or a related technical field.

  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive leadership in process engineering, continuous improvement, or business transformation, with a heavy emphasis on technology-enabled workflows.

  • Strategic Track Record: Proven experience defining and implementing enterprise-wide process strategies and transformation architectures.

  • Certifications (Required): Problem-solving and lean certifications, i.e., Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt, Shingo Institute Alumni/Certification.
