Job description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented EXFO Tester / Data Center Technician to support fiber optic testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities within mission-critical data center environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience using EXFO testing equipment, interpreting test results, and ensuring fiber infrastructure meets customer and industry standards.

This role requires frequent travel to various job sites and data centers across regional and national locations.

Key Responsibilities

Perform fiber optic testing and certification using EXFO equipment, including:

OTDR testing

IL/RL (Insertion Loss / Return Loss) testing

Fiber characterization

MPO testing and troubleshooting

Read and interpret fiber optic schematics, splice diagrams, and network drawings.

Troubleshoot fiber connectivity and performance issues in live data center environments.

Document and maintain accurate test results, reports, and as-built records.

Ensure all testing meets customer specifications and industry standards.

Support fiber installation, commissioning, and turn-up activities.

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field technicians to complete projects on schedule.

Follow all site safety procedures, data center protocols, and customer requirements.

Maintain and calibrate testing equipment and tools.

Provide technical support during maintenance windows and critical infrastructure upgrades.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Telecommunications testing equipment?, Experience working in data centers, telecommunications, or fiber optic environments.

Hands-on experience with EXFO fiber testing equipment., Ability to read construction drawings and network documentation.

Proficient with Microsoft Office and test reporting software.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and in team environments.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record., FOA, BICSI, or CFOT certifications., Structured cabling systems

Fusion splicing

Data center deployments

Hyperscale environments

OSHA 10/30 certification.

Experience working in live production environments., Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Ability to work on ladders and in confined spaces.

Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods.

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends when required.
