Job description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Software Development to lead a multi-team engineering organization responsible for building the technology that reimagines finance at scale. In this role, you will own a software area of strategic importance - defining a multi-year vision, coordinating the work of multiple engineering teams, and delivering platforms that provide fast, accurate financial insights enabling critical business decisions across Amazon’s global retail operations. You will manage leaders, set engineering standards, and drive innovation at the intersection of data architecture, financial systems, and GenAI-native solutions., * Lead a multi-team engineering organization as a leader of leaders.
- Build and sustain a high-performing, inclusive engineering culture where leaders and engineers thrive, grow, and deliver consistently without requiring direct oversight.
- Drive architectural decisions for scalable, high-integrity data platforms processing billions of financial transactions across hundreds of global business lines.
- Ensure software quality, security, compliance, and operational excellence across all systems; establish engineering standards teams aspire to meet.
- Partner deeply with Finance, FP&A, Controllership, and Accounting leaders to define and execute a technology roadmap that transforms financial planning, reporting, and governance.
- Influence IPAT’s organizational planning process (OP1/OP2), setting goals that deliver against both engineering excellence and business outcomes.
- Communicate complex technical strategies clearly - in narratives, PR/FAQs, and strategic documents - to senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls, financial regulations, and audit requirements through robust, well-designed technical solutions.

Requirements
10+ years of engineering experience
- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
- Demonstrated ability to hire, develop, and retain senior engineering talent
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field
- Experience managing organizations of 20+ engineers across multiple teams and/or geographies
- Background in machine learning, statistical modeling, financial forecasting, or anomaly detection applied to business problems
- Knowledge of financial systems, accounting principles, FP&A processes, and/or SOX compliance requirements
- Strong written communication skills - proven ability to write VP-ready narratives, PR/FAQs, OP1/OP2 documents

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
