Migration Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on SCM Migration Engineer to support client transitions from legacy mainframe SCM tools (e.g., CA Endevor) to modern DevOps solutions using IBM DBB, Git, and IDD.

This role is best suited for a technically strong migration specialist who can execute conversions, troubleshoot issues, and effectively communicate with clients throughout the migration lifecycle. Success in this position requires a balance of deep mainframe expertise and strong interpersonal skills, as the role involves direct client interaction, guidance, and training.

Responsibilities

• Execute and support SCM migration projects from Endevor (and similar tools) to Git/DBB/IDD.
• Analyze existing SCM environments and help define practical migration approaches.
• Perform application analysis, conversion, and validation during migration.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot IBM DBB, Git, and IDD in client environments.
• Diagnose and resolve migration-related issues, including build and pipeline failures.
• Work closely with clients to explain migration steps, issues, and resolutions clearly.
• Support CI/CD pipeline setup and debugging using Git and DBB.
• Deliver knowledge transfer and training sessions for client teams.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure smooth migration delivery.
• Document migration steps, lessons learned, and repeatable best practices.

Do you have experience in Version control systems?, * Strong experience in mainframe application migration or SCM conversion

• Solid background in z/OS (including USS) and either application development or system programming
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex migration/build issues
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills (ability to simplify technical topics)
• Hands-on experience with Git and modern DevOps practices

Technical Skills

• Git (repositories, branching, version control)
• IBM DBB (Dependency Based Build)
• IDD / Wazi Deployment
• CI/CD pipelines (build/debugging failures)
• YAML / Groovy scripting

Training & Client Interaction

• Ability to communicate clearly with clients during all migration phases
• Deliver technical walkthroughs and training sessions
• Guide clients through issue resolution and best practices adoption

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience migrating from CA Endevor (or similar SCM tools)
• 5-8+ years in mainframe environments
• Consulting or customer-facing delivery experience
• Exposure to mainframe modernization initiatives
