Job description

As a Senior z/OS Systems Programmer specializing in Communication Server, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing mainframe network infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of the z/OS communication environment, including VTAM, TCP/IP, SNA, Sysplex, and related technologies., * Manage and administer z/OS Communication Server components, including VTAM, TCP/IP, SNA, Parallel Sysplex, Sysplex Distributor, and z/OS Cryptographic Services.

  • Configure and maintain communication protocols such as VTAM, TCP/IP, and SNA to optimize network performance and reliability.
  • Implement and support secure communication technologies, including AT-TLS (z/OS Policy Agent), SSL/TLS, SFTP, FTPS, and Connect:Direct.
  • Manage and troubleshoot Apache HTTP Server environments on z/OS and develop or customize Apache modules as required.
  • Collaborate with application teams to integrate z/OS Communication Server technologies with WebSphere and other middleware platforms.
  • Develop and maintain automation and customization solutions using JCL, REXX, and Java.
  • Utilize z/OS Unix System Services (USS) to integrate mainframe applications with distributed environments.
  • Monitor system performance and implement tuning strategies to optimize network throughput and response times.
  • Provide technical expertise in mainframe networking technologies and support capacity planning, high availability, and disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices related to z/OS communications and networking.

Requirements

Do you have a valid CCP Data Engineer certification?, Do you have experience in Vendor communication?, Technical Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer with a focus on Communication Server technologies.
  • Strong expertise in:

  • TCP/IP on z/OS
  • SNA
  • Parallel Sysplex
  • Sysplex Distributor
  • z/OS Cryptographic Services
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • AT-TLS

  • Connect:Direct (NDM)
  • Apache HTTP Server on z/OS
  • Strong scripting and automation experience using JCL, REXX, and Java.
  • Experience with z/OS Unix System Services (USS) and integration with distributed systems.
  • Solid understanding of z/OS architecture and supporting hardware components.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex networking and communication issues in a mainframe environment.
