Job description

Tektronix is seeking a Hardware Engineering Functional Manager to support New Product Development and Sustainment initiatives for advanced test and measurement solutions as part of the Precision DC Solutions Portfolio. This role provides functional leadership to teams of Electrical Engineers and FPGA Engineers working closely with New Product Development Program Managers, Operations, and Business Development teams to deliver high-performance hardware platforms, digital designs, and embedded solutions.

The Hardware Engineering Functional Manager is responsible for building and developing technical talent, aligning engineering execution with business priorities, and ensuring disciplined engineering processes are applied across projects. The role requires strong knowledge of test and measurement technologies, the ability to prioritize across multiple programs, and proven experience leading professional engineering teams in a fast-paced product development environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide functional leadership and people management for Electrical Engineering and FPGA Engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development

  • Build, develop, and retain a high-performing engineering organization with strong technical depth and engagement

  • Set clear expectations and align engineering teams to business priorities, project commitments, and quality objectives

  • Partner with program management and cross-functional leaders to ensure effective execution of new product development and sustainment efforts

  • Drive consistent adoption of engineering best practices, design standards, and continuous improvement across teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field is required

  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in hardware product development for high-technology products, including analog, digital, and/or FPGA-based designs

  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience managing or leading a professional engineering workforce

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a collaborative, matrixed, and cross-functional environment

  • Solid understanding of hardware development lifecycles, design verification, and product release processes

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute across multiple projects in a dynamic, high-pressure environment

  • Proven experience identifying technical and organizational risks and driving mitigation plans

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with test and measurement products or related instrumentation markets

  • Understanding of FPGA development workflows, toolchains, and hardware/firmware integration

  • Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams

  • Strong troubleshooting, systems-level thinking, and problem-solving skills

Benefits & conditions

This position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.

Pay Range

The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 104,300.00 - 193,700.00
