APP - Neurosurgery

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) specializing in Neurosurgery to join our multidisciplinary surgical team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive patient care, assist in surgical procedures, and support the management of neurosurgical patients across inpatient and outpatient settings. This role requires expertise in clinical assessment, procedural skills, and familiarity with advanced EMR/EHR systems to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The APP will collaborate closely with neurosurgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care in a teaching hospital environment., * Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history-taking, physical examinations, and vital signs monitoring.

• Assist in neurosurgical procedures such as spinal taps, craniotomies, and other operative interventions.
• Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing medical imaging and laboratory results; interpret findings to inform treatment plans.
• Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and manage airway or ventilator support as needed.
• Provide postoperative care including wound management, suturing, catheterization, and sterile processing techniques.
• Manage acute pain and sedation protocols; utilize critical care skills for complex neurosurgical cases.
• Document patient encounters accurately using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings for discharge planning, case management, and utilization review.
• Educate patients and families on neurosurgical conditions, treatment options including Botox or dermal fillers when appropriate, and post-discharge care plans.
• Support telehealth consultations and follow-up appointments to enhance patient access to specialized neurosurgical care.

Do you have experience in Vascular access?, * Valid certification as an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) with current licensure in the state of practice.

• Proven experience in neurology or neurosurgery settings; experience with Level I Trauma Centers or teaching hospitals is preferred.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; familiarity with CPT coding and ICD coding (ICD-9/10).
• Strong knowledge of neuroanatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques including sonography and spinal tap procedures.
• Ability to perform sterile techniques such as suturing, catheterization, phlebotomy, venipuncture, and specimen collection/processing.
• Experience managing complex cases involving acute pain management, ICU care, trauma response (Level II/Level I trauma experience), infectious disease care, or post-acute care is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
