Individual Placement-Alaska- Integrated Resources GIS

The Chugach National Forest GIS Team is seeking an enthusiastic candidate for a winter internship. This position will provide general GIS support for a wide variety of projects and programs across the Chugach National Forest, including aquatics, ecology, recreation, and wildlife. The work schedule will be full-time. Most job duties are computer-based and will be performed in the Chugach National Forest Supervisors Office in Anchorage, Alaska., Duties will include compiling, creating, and updating geospatial data layers, metadata, and attribute information for features in the ArcGIS mapping platform, while also developing cartographic products, such as maps, dashboards, and web applications in the ArcGIS Online environment.

Do you have experience in Customer service?, On-the-job training will be provided, but a basic working knowledge of ArcGIS and AGOL are strongly desired. Candidates should be well-organized and have a keen eye for detail. The applicant must be coachable and self-driven and must be able to provide high-quality customer service and geospatial support to various resource specialists and program areas. This position will integrate with several interdisciplinary teams and work directly with resource specialists, leadership, and other GIS professionals, so strong communication skills are highly desired., Housing is not provided. Candidates must have or be able to obtain their own housing in the Anchorage area.
