Job description

Identifying vulnerabilities in our current network, software solutions, and information storage
Develop and maintain the Company’s information security comprehensive plan
Directs an ongoing, proactive risk assessment program for all new and existing systems
Ensures familiarity with Company’s goals and business processes so effective controls can be put in place for those areas presenting the greatest information security risk
Perform/manage regular vulnerability assessments (e.g. penetration tests, vulnerability scans)
Support 3rd party security audits
Coordinate security incident response including triage, remediation, documentation, and notifications
Communicates risks and recommendations to mitigate risks to the senior leadership
Participate in Leadership Team activities
Shape the direction of the organization’s technology focus with an emphasis in sound security practices
Recruit, mentor and potentially manage staff members
Participate in the budget review and oversight activities as requested
Evaluate and recommend improvements in existing software solutions in order to ensure optimal security
Promote and reinforce security best practices throughout the Company
Research and evaluate potential 3rd party security-related technologies
Other duties as assigned by the department

Requirements

8+ years of experience in a technical leadership role
5+ years of experience working/ focusing on information security
Experience implementing web-based solutions in a real-world environment
Familiarity with a variety of security and privacy standards (e.g. ISO 27000 series, PCI-DSS, FERPA, HIPAA)
Ability to routinely demonstrate initiative and an ability to work autonomously
Desire to operate and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Multi-task effectively
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data gathering skills
Degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
