Job description
The IT Technician / Security Systems Technician is a dual-role position responsible for supporting the organization’s technology needs while also assisting with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of security cameras, access control systems, alarm/security equipment, and network cabling., IT Support
- Provide basic technical support for computers, printers, phones, tablets, and other workplace technology.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
- Assist with setting up new workstations, user accounts, email accounts, and devices.
- Install, configure, and update software as needed.
- Support network equipment such as switches, routers, wireless access points, and related hardware.
- Document completed work, service issues, equipment changes, and troubleshooting steps.
- Communicate clearly with staff, vendors, and supervisors regarding technical issues.
Security Camera and Security System Support
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot security camera systems.
- Mount cameras, adjust camera angles, and verify proper video coverage.
- Assist with installing and maintaining DVR/NVR systems, access control systems, alarms, sensors, and related security equipment.
- Test installed systems to ensure proper function.
- Help diagnose issues with cameras, recording equipment, power supplies, cabling, and network connectivity.
- Maintain accurate records of installed equipment, camera locations, usernames, passwords, and system settings according to company policy.
Cabling and Low-Voltage Work
- Run, terminate, label, and test network and low-voltage cabling.
- Install cable pathways, conduit, surface raceway, wall plates, keystone jacks, patch panels, and related components.
- Pull cable through ceilings, walls, crawl spaces, attics, and other approved areas.
- Follow proper cable management and labeling practices.
- Use appropriate tools and testing equipment to verify cable performance.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas during and after installation.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Wireless networking?, This position requires a hands-on technician who is comfortable working with computers, networks, low-voltage wiring, cameras, security hardware, and customer-facing support. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, able to troubleshoot problems, and willing to work both independently and as part of a team., * Experience with basic IT support, computer hardware, software, and networking.
- Experience OR willingness to learn camera systems, security systems, and low-voltage cabling.
- Ability to use common hand tools, power tools, cable testers, and basic troubleshooting equipment.
- Basic understanding of IP addressing, network connectivity, switches, routers, and Wi-Fi.
- Ability to follow instructions, diagrams, work orders, and installation plans.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in ceilings, attics, crawl spaces, ladders, and other installation environments as needed.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment, tools, ladders, and cable boxes.
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
- Valid driver’s license preferred or required, depending on job needs., * Proven experience as a service technician with a focus on security systems or related fields.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in cabling and electrical work.
- Familiarity with computer hardware, networking principles, and telecommunication systems.
- Experience in locksmithing is a plus.
- Ability to work independently in the field while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of construction practices as they relate to system installations is preferred.
