Job description

Our client is seeking a talented, tenacious, and results-driven Linux-focused Systems Administrator to join a multi-disciplinary R&D team of electrical engineers, mathematicians, computer scientists, and analysts. This group develops custom digital signal processing solutions and transforms them into real operational impact.

In this role, you will help build and support enterprise systems while contributing to our client’s evolving development infrastructure. It’s an opportunity to work alongside senior engineers, deepen your systems administration expertise, and support mission-critical technology.

Come join the team building the next generation of cutting-edge signal processing and geolocation systems.

Primary Responsibilities As a Linux Systems Administrator, you will support the modernization, reliability, and scalability of our client’s infrastructure. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with deployment and management of Linux systems and services across multiple sites, using automation and configuration management tools under team-lead guidance.
  • Collaborating with senior administrators on infrastructure projects and migrations, including upgrades, capacity improvements, and technology refreshes.
  • Participating in operational cycles-patching, monitoring, maintenance, and performance optimization-to ensure availability, security, and compliance targets are met.
  • Contributing to documentation such as user guides, knowledge bases, and system maintenance records.
  • Following established technical designs, processes, and procedures to maintain system standards.
  • Performing routine system health checks and assisting with monitoring performance, security, and availability.
  • Supporting recovery events and backup/disaster-recovery operations.
  • Learning and contributing to automation and scripting efforts using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, and other IaC frameworks.
  • Maintaining lab environments in a clean, organized, and compliant state.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • May be substituted with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain a DoD 8570-compliant security certification within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to obtain a professional certification within 6 months of hire
  • Examples: RHCSA, RHCE, CKA, CCNA, AWS Associate

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Linux systems and service administration (RHEL, Rocky, CentOS), including remediation and patching.
  • Basic familiarity with configuration management and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform) and interest in IaC and Git workflows.
  • Understanding of enterprise storage technologies (SAN, NFS, iSCSI, block/object storage).
  • Experience with virtualization (KVM) and containerization (Docker).
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, subnets) and ability to assist with troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of security compliance frameworks such as STIGs, DISA Benchmarks, CMMC, or CUI.
  • Experience or strong interest in scripting/programming (Bash, Python, PowerShell, Go) for automation and tooling.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset and eagerness to learn from senior administrators.
